I want to get an idea what insurance costs for an air boat A buddy of mine just got it today on his and it was only $360.00 a year for $15000.00 on the boat and was wanting to know if thats a good price he got it at progressive in palm bay. Any info would be help full.

I've been shopping for airboat insurance and I can tell you, he probably isn't getting full coverage and the person he talked to probably doesn't know it's an airboat! There are only like 3 major carriers in the US that cover airboats. You might be in a bind if something happens and they find out it is not a normal boat. Just my research and maybe he found the exception. I was quoted from 900-1400 for full coverage on a 20K boat. Liability is cheap, it's the comp that costs.

I asked if it was airboat insurance and he said yes and it is full covrage he said that that was the 7 place he went and I ask air boat insurance he said that he took them the title and they copied the vin and gave a policy so I'll go there next week and get one for my boat. i'll keep you posted

Wow, can you guys leave the name of the agent you are using? I got a quote from markel and it was over $1000. So I am wondering why there is such a big difference.

Matt

I called Markel direct, didn't use an agent. I don't know if this would make a difference. The number is no secret. I called 262-548-9880. Some savings is because of the deductable. I used $ 500.00 as mine.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's becuase you live in GA. I think with the increased number of airboats here in FL that they charge us more since there is a higher probability of an accident. Anyone in FL getting the same rates?

When I purchased my boat a month and half ago, the best price I could get from Markel was just above $1500. This was to insure a boat valued at $22,000. I ended up going with IWSA for $575.

I called Markel, and got an asstment for $10,000
$250 deduc.
$50,000 per person
$100,000 pre. preson acc.
was $874.00 a year.
If I have proof of a boatin safty class it is $90.00 less a year.

I called a ins broker today they said that progressive ins is the one that handles air boats.got a quote of $647.00 a year for minimal full covrage for $25000.00 on the boat with a $500.00 deduct Don't know what else it comes with.
