Air boat wreck

It was on the news but they didn't mention that one of the air boats was an FWC boat. It happened near highway 50 on the St Johns there was a collision thank God nobody was killed. I was told two officers were hurt and one had sever injuries. I spoke with someone who made it to the scene.

The boat was an Orange County Sherrif boat. According to the wittness the sherrif boat was moving along and swerved into Tims lane to avoid running over him while fishing in his Ganu. The Sherrif boat T boned Tims and sunk it throwing Tim into the sherrifs cage then into the water. The wittness jumped in and helped Tim get to shore then tied a rope to Tims' boat with a seat cushion to alert other boaters. Some good people on the river 4 other guys stopped to help pull the boat out. No help from any law enforcement, not even turning the blue lights on to warn other boaters of a sunk boat. We also noticed the sherrif boat didn't have a flag on it, we were told law enforcement was exempt then told flags are only for wildlife management areas, then told flags aren't REQUIRED anywhere they are only reccommendation. All in all Tim was incredibly lucky. I will be buying and wearing the pfds that inflate on impact.

I was on the River just north of the 520 bridge and saw a boat sunk is this the same wreck you all are talking about. This was Sat. Morning about 10:15. Boat was a metal 220 boat.

Also and I am not 100% on this but I believe that the PFD's that inflate when you get in the water are saltwater activated. The others you have to pull a cord.

Thank god Tim didn't have one beer or he would be getting prosecuted for something criminal. Obviously he was 100% legit or the story would have read different well I hope everyone is Okay with no long term affects. I'm glade to see the other airboats help him out that really shows our character.

Yes the boat you saw was Tims. I spoke with a few of the orange county investigators who explained to me the pfds have an asprin between the inflator cartridge a the pin that activates them. You can also manually activate them. They can be refilled with a kit sold at the same place you get the pfd. I was told by one of the Sergeants that the vest activated automatically for the deputy. Saltwater may activate it faster but fresh water will activate them. No alcohol water and gatorade.

The article in the link implies that he was driving his boat when the officer hit it.
