Cajun, those air drives usually use a 24hp Honda V-twin.
A lot of the boys that fish the flats down in the Keys use them.

If you lived closer to me I'd help you build one. They go in with the kicker motor until the water gets too thin and then fire up the air drive. The air drive is mounted on a pedestal so that the whole thing (engine, prop, and cage) moves with a tiller handle. No rudder needed.

Do ya know what those rigs are called? I'd like to know what to watch for and maybe pick one up someplace. Man I think thats neat.. Cajun

The little green one in the top picture was called an Air Bug ....... they haven't been made for years, but all you need is a good strong transom clamp and you could make one in a weekend.

I believe they where called "Airboy Dragon fly" but they are different then what you have pictured those engines are fixed like a airboat do a goggle search for Bow fishing motors seen them 5.5 to 16hp

They are all over up here. We call them fan boats and they are used to bowfish. There are two for sale on the bowfishusa forum now. I have had one in the past and the Airboat is the way to go, but there are some waters that will not allow airboats and I am looking at building another. The ones that are for sale are F and F hulls, built in Monticello, AR one is 16' the other is 18'.

Well I sold my airboat cause the wife got where she couldn't deal with it, she has some medical problems. So I built this really neat little flats boat that just won't go where I need. But this would solve the whole problem. Wifes with me, no problem fish deeper, wifes home , fire up the airplant and scoot on in there. I will really be looking at this in the near future. Thanx for any and all input on these. later, Cajun

On the bowfishusa site there are all kinds of pics and desricptions of these, every now and then you will catch someone selling a fan set up already finished.

Even the wife thinks its a good idea. So maybe in the future I'll be trying to gather up the stuff to do one. Gotta sale another boat before I can even think about it. Looks like the ideal thing for me. Later, Cajun

Here is a few pics of one I am in the process of building. This is my second one and I have a bunch of friends that have built them. If you need any help let me know. Also I am posting a web page to a buddy of mine that will build you one. His name is Brandon Carter and he can do just about anything you could want. This is his site. http://www.arbowfishingboatfab.com/

Go here to see pics of my rig we are building as I am having trouble getting pics top post. http://www.bowfishusa.com/community/index.php?topic=19472.0
