AIRBOAT BILL SIGNED BY GOVERNOR

SB 1958 was signed by Governor Bush on Monday.
The muffler portion will become effective OCTOBER 1. The ordinance portion will become effective July 1.

I have not talked with FWC to see how they will handle the time between July and October but I suspect they will write warnings during that time.

The 2/3 vote section means 4 of 5 or 6 of 7 commissioners must vote to discriminate against airboats for there to be anymore ordinances against us. Those of us who studied this believe that will stop these ordinances.

The only other time local governments are required to pass something by a 2/3 vote is when they add a local sales tax or gas tax. IT's very hard to get 4 of 5 and/or 6 of 7 to agree on something this serious.

Thanks to each of you who wrote legislators and others in support of this bill. I know the antis worked up till the last minute trying to stop it -- which means we did the right thing.

Thank you, Bondo. Congratulations to all of you who fought the fight. This looks like a giant leap forward for a 'first time ever' effort to me.

THis year there were 2.463 bills filed. Of those only 386 were passed and sent to the Governor.

It is almost impossible to get a bill of this type passed and signed by the Governor in one session!

I do appreciate all the support of everyone who gave us good ideas, for those who caught the felony portion, for those who "debated" and flags as well as the remainder of this bill.

IT was a combined effort and I am proud to represent you

Thank you for your tenacity and good job to every one who was involved. I have been to over 6 county commissioner meetings so far this year fighting for one right or another and I know you can only win these battles by showing up and keeping the pressure on. I just wish people spent 1/2 as much time at a county meetings as they do bickering about things. I believe that is why things are the way they are whoever shows up and fights the battle is obviously more concerned and should be rewarded for their efforts.

Thunder,

I'll 2nd your motion! Gotta show up to be heard!

Gonna be hard for the 2/3 vote to go through if you're vocal and vote against such ordinances thrown against us :)

Bondo & FAA Good work :salute:
