Airboat Flags

I've been looking for a durable flag to run on my boat instead of the triangle ATV/Cycle types. I just ordered some from the link below that are 12" X 18" nylon that may be what I've been looking for. Just thought I would pass the info along. I don't think the triangle flags are legal in the glades but I could be wrong.

What color does the flag need to be Orange or can it be another color I have a florecent orange one now but it is getting a little tatered

11. No vessel shall be operated outside of Water Management District canals unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 10 feet above the bottom of the vessel.

I copied this from the WMA regulations summary for the Everglades and Francis S Taylor WMA. It has to be orange.

Just as long as it doesn't have to have a big "T" on it, I'm OK with the color ....... .

My two favorite teams are the UGA, and whoever is playin' Tennessee.

Laura and I have been thru a lot of flags... Bike trangle flags are good for about half a day. We even ran some glow-in-the-dark haloween panties up the boat's flagpole. Those lasted a few rides.

But by far the BEST flag we've had has been a mesh orange hunting vest from Walmart. Lightweight. durable. Been running it for a half dozen rides now, and it still looks brand new.

As far as a law for if you need one or not... We run one all the time anyway. Just safer, dosen't cost anything extra, so why not? And in a time of distress, we can always run our rebel flag upside down. :p

matt.

Matt I too have been running the mesh vest for a little while. :D :D I had to put something on the bare stick!

Diamondback sells a flag that the would be compliant and seems to be more durable than the basic bike flag. It sells for about $15. It comes on a 5 foot rod and is design to swivel on the rod. I can try to take a picture and post it.

I am having a few flags made today for Cowboy and I. I'm having them made here in Jacksonville, FL by Buchanan Sign & Flag (904) 725-5500.
They are making me 12" X 12"ers made of solid International Orange vinyl, hemmed on all sides with three grommets on one edge. You might look for a sign/flag retailer in your area if your having trouble finding just the right thing.
I usually run the stars and bars but I want to have the required flag before running down in area 3 this weekend. I figured there's a good chance of seeing some wildlife officers with citation booklets and I don't want to draw negative attention to the ride or ridders.

Make that RIDERS before I get creamed by all the spell checkers and wanna be Editors In Cheif's out there.

I posted my flag pictures in my gallery. I don't know how to post it here. The angled flag is a little short on height. I drilled a bolt and secured the rod in it and bolt it in place when riding. They work well for me.

In addition to our club flag which is bright yellow, I run an orange flag I bought at the truck stop for 2.99 and it is made for excessive speed and abuse  . These are used for wide loads and stuff ( I know I need to lose a few  ). I am looking into getting prices on new Orange flages for SA made locally.

The guy that makes these flags for most of the air boat shops here if you want more info i will try to talk to him and get some more info on them
he makes dimoand backs and classic and hamant just like these

CC,

The thing with the flag on the left is that I got one brand new with the boat "cut down" like in the pic. I don't think it measures the 10" X 12". Anybody want a brand new useless oarnge flag?

I did not want to start a new thread. But do we need a management stamp to ride? I have an out of towner with me.

My flag and they Guy who makes them are both in the shape of a Chevy bowtie they look pretty cool his name is Jay and I have his number if anybody needs a flag. The advantages to Jay’s flags are they swivel, available in mesh, are made from construction site barrier material and the sticks are much heavier duty then the standard ones. It’s a nice flag for only $16.
