Airboat help needed

I was wondering if anyone knew of someone that sells airboats equipped with a rotax motor. I am looking for a 12' x 6', with a rotax 503 SC or DC or a 582. Thanks for any help.

Jim,

Thanks. I will be having 3 people in the boat most of the time. A guy I know has a 11' x 54" with a 582, 60" whirlwind, and it does excellent. I need something a little quieter than most airboats b/c I am running near houses to get to the duck hunting hole. i dont have to go through much deep water, it is mainly 2-3" deep crossing over some mud, but it even has a water sheen over it.

whats up dukslayr!!!!! you know who this is.....this is a good place to learn a lot about airboats. everybody on here will try to help you out as much as they can. most of the people here are floridians so they are on the cutting edge of airboats............

dukslayr,

OK, by now you have probably read the stuff on here about small airboats. Now I would suggest you go to this site:

http://airboatsbydixon.com/

and read about the Dixon twister. There are some videos there too. They are in quicktime which is freeware. You may have to right click on them and download to your desktop to view them.

I would suggest the next step would be to call Paul Dixon, he is in Bainbridge GA. His contact info is on his site. He has been building airboats for 40+ years and can help you.

Go to http://redriverairboats.com/ then click on the 'engines' button. You will find five available rotax engines.

Additionally the site listed below contains information about rotax engines. It lists the strengths, the weaknesses and the 'average reliable life' of the rotax engine(s) as supported from decades of data.

What do you suppose is the 'average reliable life' of a rotax engine? Read paragraph two to discover the answer.
