airboat hulls

Was just wondering what the advantage if any. of a welded aluminum hull is over a riveted hull. Have seen both for sell, and was thinking welded would be better. Is it just that you don't need the special welder for riveted. Have done some sheet metal work as am aircraft mechanic, not my speciality but think I could get by with riveting. Appreciate any input for next project boat.

typically your riveted boats are built out of 7075 t6 some people build them out of the softer stuff because it is a lot cheaper, but you can not beat the longevity of a 7075 t6 boat. They are a lot harder than welded boats and keep there bottom a lot longer. The cost up front is double, but thirty years down the road you will still have a good riding boat.
