Airboat Insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will write a policy for an airboat. I got one from Boat US, but they want $900 for a year on a $10000 boat. Good coverage but seems high.

Don't know where you are located but, Bryant Coverall Insurance, Hwy 19 in Eustis FL, thats in north Lake County, can quote you a policy.

Another option is to join Florida Guides Association - $100.00 per year - and get access to their group marine liability and casualty insurance plan - written By Charter Lakes. I carry commercial use liability and casualty comp and my premiums are between the two quoted above.

I serched long and hard for over a week for insurance for my new airboat. Nearly every company/agent I contacted either referred me to obtained a bid from Markel. I finally found a company that writes policies other than Markel and found it for about 1/3 the price. Anyone seeking information on this company can contact me by email at Flatfisher@aol.com

I also shopped recently for a lower rate, but discovered that Markel is supposedly the only admitted company writing airboat insurance. A bit of info, if any of you guys carry an excess liability policy, aka an Umbrella, make sure your underlying airboat policy meets the requirements of the excess policy. Some excess policies require an A or B rated company which you might not have on your existing airboat policy. This could leave a big gap in coverage that you assume you have. Just a little info from a guy in the insurance biz.

Why doesn't everyone just post the name of the company they deal with for insurance ??
What's the secret ? I htought these forums were to share info with each other.

I'll be happy to post the name. It's not a military secret. The company is International Water Safety Foundation. It's headquarters is in England and there North American contact is in Ontario. Check out http://WWW.iswf.us. If you would let them know I referred you, I would appreciate it. They do give a "Bird Dog" fee (discount on next years premium). It is a full coverage insurance, and they have been with same underwriter for 9 years according to the rep.

If you have any further questions, you can call me at 561-373-5056.

Thank you,

I just got mine from Markel. $13k on boat motor and $2 on trailer. $50k / $100k / $25k and $2k on medical bills including uninsured driver with $500.00 deductable. Price is $655.00 a year. I didn't think this is to bad.

Hey Guys be careful with the "International Companies" They are not legal to carry Insurance in every state. If you want more information feel free to give me a call. I do reffer a couple companies here in Florida and I don't get any referal kick backs just trying to find everyone a fair rate and a company that will pay if you ever have a claim.
Good Luck
