i recently purchased a 17 ft cottonmouth with a continental gpu. i have a million questions. is the 220 gpu enough motor for the hull? how thick should the teflon on the bottom be? thanks dominic
You have started with one of the most popular and dependable motors out there. The 220 will give all the torgue you will need to get you thru the sticky situations and weight factors you may run into.Diffenetly sounds like a good combo to start with.As far as Teflon ,I run polymer so someone else will have to step up there.
good starter boat or should i say barge not making fun mine is a barge too some consider a boat not a real airboat after 14ft.good starter motor as well as far as the bottom is concerned there is alot of suject ont that issue if you research the topic on this site.don't get discouraged if your boat does not perform like some one elses boat alot of people expect thier boats to do more than they can.your boat will not be a hill burner and i would not attemp dry land unless some one is around to help you out if you get stuck.heavy boats are a pain to work loose by yourself and many of us here know that.stay away from any black mud unless it is covered by water you will have lots of fun with youre boat and you may say that you are only interested in just cruising but that will change we all are constantly upgrading our boat,so it is a fun hobby and great spectator sport. hope you have lots of fun.
I'm told there are some fairly easy mods to get some real HP out of the lazy ole 220s. Never owned one myself, but out of the box I think they make about 160-175 HP. I see 4bbl carbs and I also see bigger jugs added. Sounds like a versatile engine.
