Headline:
Fist fights and child beatings erupt as airboaters fight amongst themselves over weather to remove invasive species, plant trees on eroding river banks, or pick up discarded rubber worm baggies dropped by bass fishermen and Evian bottles discarded by degenerate canoeists.
Who could ask for better airboat P.R.
Not exactly what I would call "good press;" however, the "out of the box thinking will do as you said and gain the attention of the media. Hit their buttons and they respond. You hit on a number of them.
Maybe along these lines:
Airboaters seeking diversity are recruiting gay women to bravely clamor over man eating alligators, deadly snakes and toxic waste in order to clean polluted waterways in impoverished areas. "We want a healthy environment and clean water for our future generations of deprived minorities, who are not able to gain an education in such a polluted environment in order to lift themselves from poverty and ignorance," stated burly redneck activist Billy Bob Lee.
While this may be fun, the media "hot buttons" are accurate.............
*Diversity
*Gay rights: social action by this group
*Manufactured threat (man eating alligator)
*Manufactured hype: toxic waste
*Feminist viewpoint: man eating alligators, brave lesbos
*Environmentalism
*Minority issues
*Children issues
*Big government education
*Stereo typing an agrarian rooted caucasian
You have to understand what their criteria is for a story, slant it so they will take the bait and have a positive message for the cause in there somewhere. Mood & Thunder are accurate on their assesments of the media................It's a game & the rules aren't fair.
If the lake clean ups and other services we provide contained the componets above, the events would not just be covered--they would be FRONT PAGE NEWS!
Get creative..............
