airboat of all airboats

I wonder what the db level is on that rig. what it weighs and the hydraulic steering must be something to see. Can you imagine getting it stuck half in the ice and half out --- it scares me to think of it.

Pretty cool. Articulated Hull so no rudders. Probably does good on the ice (as it was designed for - in Finland) would probably never make it in the marsh though. Still a cool looking boat.

:)

Ron, that was my first thought exactly. I'll bet that is one "noisey" rascal! And what in the world would you need to tow it ..... a Peterbuilt ?
Good post though, AkTours. It's always fun to see what's out there :) .

My first thought was that it was significantly under powered.....250 horse coming from a diesel engine would'nt do much for me. Then again they are running on a fair amount of ice, although they do show some pictures of the rig limping through the water/ice.

Can you imagine falling back into that prop???

$90,000 and that's just the reserve price. You'd probably have to spend another $15k just to get it over here.

SGShooter,

I actually like the idea of a diesel because they're impervious to ignition problems in damp/wet weather, and the danger from fire/ explosion is substantially less. Almost nonexistent actually, because of the higher kindling temperature and lower evaporation rate of diesel fuel. It is smelly though.

I'd like to see somebody build a boat with one of the big Ford Power Stroke V-8's. Done right, it could make a very cool airboat.
