Private Airboat Overturns At Everglades Park
No Injuries Reported

February 21, 2006

THE EVERGLADES, Fla. -- A private airboat carrying at least four people overturned at Everglades Holiday Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Broward County fire rescue crews said no one on the boat was injured.

A Holiday Park employee told NBC 6 that two men and two young boys were on the private boat.

The park sent one of its airboats to the scene to get the four and bring them back to land.

The park employee said water levels in the area fluctuate and the airboat likely hit a stump and overturned.

Everglades Holiday Park is located at Griffin Road and U.S. Highway 27.

Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Sounds to me like it was not a tour boat..do you have info otherwise?? Is that the fire station that gets all the action down there with the airboat??

Just saw the local news story about the airboat that flipped west of Holiday Park. Apparently it was a "family of four". They said that another boat came by within three minutes, so things "weren't that bad".

I saw the story on WSVN (http://www.wsvn.com), but they didn't have it on their website yet. I found this story on another channel:

Anyhow, sounds like the guy got water over the front, and the rest was history. I can relate....reckon he can call himself an airboater now!!!

Only thing he didn't say, is that the boat sunk at such a rate as to make a submariner proud!!!!

Glad to hear they are ok.

Hey Doc, I'll never forget what cntry141 tells me!

Two kinds of airboaters...Those that have sunk an airboat, and those who are going to sink an airboat!

Having being on a submarine in the Navy I figure I'm about half way there :D
