airboat racing

I watched a few of these airboat race videos and pics and all I want to know is where are all these races taking place. Because I have a boat that all I use it for is to go racing and it is doing nothing but sitting on the trailor. If i was to come up with a place to race would anybody be interested in participating. I am trying to acheive some kind of club so we can all stick together or somebody some where will try to put a stop to this sport. If we let them do that then we will have nothing to stand for. So is everybody out there scared to Race or what, I dont know what the deal is this sport has gone down hill and dimenished in to nothing. Does anybody feel the same as I?

Oh yeah lets just race. Jerry Cypret

Yeah, you and the FWC enforcement officers. LOL

I'm a novice on this topic, but I'd guess the real enemy of it is insurance companies and a government that feels obligated to protect us from ourselves.

If you organize a race, and some people get killed in an accident.... are you ready for the families of those who died and their insurance companies to come knocking on your door? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is the situation. Unless you want to spend millions building a skinnywater stadium loaded with safety features.

IT sucks. I'd LOVE to watch some races!!!!!!!!!!!!

matt.

From what I hear just show up at polluted waters and git-r-dun. Some say they race at the ridge on sunday mornings I have never seen em but thats what I hear. It seems there are plenty of unofficial races all over the place most any weekend. There are no speed limits enforced if none are posted. I believe there was a post on here about some fireman who got killed racin in the glades and the fwc said there was not much they could do about it because it wasn't illegal. Maybe one of our site experts will dig up that thread and re-post it.

Unsanctioned races are dangerous to participate in or watch because no one is enforcing safety rules for participants or spectators so take that into consideration when you decide to go or not. For me it is not worth it now that I have lived this long. I used to race in unsanctioned events and after spending 45 minutes waiting to be extricated from a crash I decided with the advice of my doctor that I should re-consider. i raced in sanctioned events as well and I am not taking sides on it just pointing out considerations. Have fun be safe.

There is a king of the marsh race coming up in the marsh and I will notify ya Jerry. I would like to see ya there. I can assure you however it will not be posted. And I would stay away from polluted waters for awhile.

Hey Thunder I'm not interested in racing but I know how a Nextel grapevine works and would be willing to participate on race day at whatever observation points would be necessary :D
