AIRBOATER PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE ENDORSED BY THE FLORIDA AIRBOAT ASSOCIATION
At its July 10th meeting, the Florida Airboat Association endorsed
personal injury medical insurance that will provide coverage for
insured persons who are injured in most boating and water sport
related accidents, including airboat accidents.
A $25 annual premium will provide $15,000 in accidental
injury/medical insurance and $15,000 in medi-vac (helicopter/air
ambulance medical evacuation) insurance. A typical helicopter
airlift of a critically injured person, common in airboat accidents,
can cost between $9,000 and $12,000.
Insurance coverage is provided by the Security National Life
Insurance Company through Diver's Security Insurance, Salt Lake City,
Utah.
Through negotiation with the Florida Airboat Association, Diver's
Security Insurance/Security National Life Insurance Company has
agreed to include "airboating" and "airboaters" in its coverage.
There is no other insurance coverage known to specifically name and
provide accidental medical and medi-vac insurance coverage to
airboaters.
Do not be scared off by the company name. Diver's Security Insurance
has been providing affordable insurance coverage to recreational
SCUBA divers since 1987 and expanded its coverage to the entire
boating community approximately ten years ago.
For further information or a policy application, contact your local
airboat club/association, the Florida Airboat Association or Diver's
Security Insurance at: -www.DiversSecurity.com- 1-800-288-4810.
When contacting Diver's Security, be sure to mention that you are
interested in coverage Plan C (air ambulance and medical evacuation)
and Plan D (medical treatment for water sport and recreational
boating injuries).
It is the position of the Florida Airboat Association that no
airboater stricken ill or injured, while enjoying the sport of
airboating, be denied the rapid intervention of medical care and/or
emergency transportation to an appropriate medical facility due to
the concern for expense. To that end, the Florida Airboat
Association will continue to strive to make available affordable
accidental medical and emergency medi-vac insurance coverage to the
airboating community.
