Deputies mount search after airboat accident

Authorities searched Saturday night for three occupants of a capsized airboat in the Stick Marsh area near the border of Brevard & Indian River counties.

The boat carried two men & one woman, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office reported. Florida Wildlife Commission personnel joined in the search, which continued late into the night, hours after the 6:00pm incident.

Wow, have been on the out skirts of there and that is scary. I hope we here something. Do you have the link to that Capt. Jeff? I looked online but was unable to find it. I did not even pay attention in the newspaper when I was looking at it either.

I sure hope they're OK .....

There's a lesson in this for all of us. If you're gonna go riding alone (no
other boats are going with you), ALWAYS tell someone you can count on:

1) Where you expect to be riding.
2) How many are in the group.
3) Approx. how long you expect to be gone. Update them if it runs longer.

If you get into trouble, the sooner people start to look for you the better your chances are.

No link,

I couldn't find it either so I copied it out of Sunday's paper.

I put in at Garcia late afternoon on Saturday and rode to Blue Cypress Lake. The wind was blowing pretty hard out of the North East. The lake was way to rough to cross in my low sided boat. I suspect the Stick Marsh was just as rough. I didn't see another airboat in the marsh the whole time I was out. I sure hope this story has a happy ending........

Just got off the Nextel with Lt Steve Wayne who stated that it was a false alarm.

The boat was not capsized but broken down (rudder problems).

All (3) three are OK.
