Airboaters- My kinda people!!

Just a short note to say thanks. THis past Wednesday I took the day off with my son, a fishing buddy Steve and his son, for a mid week trip over to Shell Mound. Boy was it a beautiful day! We had gone up Giger creek and had just spun the boat around on an old dirt ramp where we had caught some Reds before when the engine just died, just like someone had cut the switch off. Cell phones work out there and I called my buddy Dan Phillips who built my boat for me. After a brief conversation of what could be wrong- what do you think he said? "WE'LL BE THERE IN AN HOUR AND A HALF"!!! Where else could you find folks that would be willing to drop what they were doing (building an airboat), hook up their boat, get a friend to come with them, go to the parts store, buy a bunch of distributor parts, drive an hour, boat for another 20 min, try to fix your boat, boat back to the doc, drive to the local parts store for more parts, come back, try again to fix the motor and when all else fails, tow your butt back to the doc on what turned into a windy day. I know many of you reading this have done exactly that and more and for all of those times I am here to say THANKS!! Special thanks to Dan and Jerry who made what could have been a miserable situation, an overall very positive experience.

Good deal, glad you made it out. These things happen all the time and you can ALWAYS count on your airboat buddies to come to the rescue.

Send a letter to the editor of your paper there. Airboats can always use some positive press in Alachua county. Hope they print it.

Now the alterior motive to comeing out to "help/rescue" is the chance to get out of work to do some boating.
Only the foks that have been in your kind of predicament truly appreaciate the idea of being helped out of a bad spot, one seldom realizes it until it happens to them.
God knows I hate asking anyone to physically help, but when it's needed be especially thankful to the ones that do it from the goodness of their heart. 8)

roger that! airboaters are the best kind of people.

its sad to say but you'll never see the kind of generosity that you'll see from fellow airboaters, bunch of good people for sure!

you hear of it time an time again, good job guys hes my kind of builder, thats service after the sale indeed :)

You are a close knit community for sure.

I keep seeing its done no where else, IE the help, selfless help, well I'm proud to own a used airboat now and will do my best on my end to keep it up.

That being said I come from highpower service rifle shooting for years. its one of those other rare groups, a new man walks up to watch, is generally quickly handed a 1000 dollar rifle, another 1-2K of gear, loaded ammo, 100 rounds and is asked if he'd like to try it, no charge. he is in charge of the gear/rifle all day and every last time its happend, the guns and gear come back to the owner at the end of the day.

True they are rare sports that operate this way, glad I went from one to another.

nicest people in the world, florida cracker took my daughte and I on her first duck hunt. We had an awesome day, broken down and all. It turned out to be probably the best day of my life. frog gigger came to pull us out of the swamp. It made me join this forum and start saving my coin for my own air boat. I can't wait to return the favor. :thumbright:
