SUBJECT: AIRBOATERS RECOGNIZED BY GOVERNOR
On Friday, April 21st, Governor Jeb Bush and his cabinet honored the civilian airboaters of Florida by recognizing them for their work in New Orleans, during the flooding that occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, at the State Capital in Tallahassee.
Fifteen civilian airboaters and their families traveled to Tallahassee, from across the state, to accept a proclamation issued by Governor Bush and his cabinet, on behalf of all civilian airboaters who worked in New Orleans.
The proclamation recognized the airboaters for their unselfish dedication to their fellowman, their heroism in facing unknown dangers and their fortitude in enduring conditions that threatened their health, safety and well-being.
Lake County Airboat Association president Jim Brown officially accepted the proclamation and presented a short speech on behalf of all civilian airboaters who worked in New Orleans to save lives and relieve the suffering of the residents who were stranded in the floodwaters of that inundated city.
