Sorry if the size is so big, I took the picture with my phone of the article, couldnt get my scanner to work , but the hand scribble on the article is one of my grandparents i believe. Im pretty sure it was round about 1968 or so. I am going to start another thread in the new section I will post the other article pics I have

I enjoyed seeing and reading the magazine once again. That's cool. Thanks for posting Rick.

Great to hear from you Dave. Hope everything's going good for ya these days.

Appreciate your part in oval airboat racing history. I've always considered one of the pics in your gallery to be the "face of oval airboat racing": http://www.southernairboat.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/19301/title/dave-ford/cat/632

hey now did you ever scan these old magazines? i'm a historian and i'd love to do it. thank you.

It's been about 14 years ago when I did that, but I'm pretty sure I opened them up and scanned a page at a time as an image, then used a free program that converted them to pdf and arranged them into a single pdf file.

Here's the other ones that Paul Dixon sent me:

July/August 1974
November/December 1974
January/February 1975
July/August 1975
September/October 1975

There are or used to be many photographs from the races and airboat gatherings from that era scattered thru the airboat crowd. That period was almost 50 years ago so photographs may be difficult to find.

How did we get this old??

I'd say you helped your chances of getting old when you quit racing them airboats in circles Dave :)

Also, there's still all the old airboat and racing pictures in the gallery archives: https://southernairboat.com/photopost/

I tore up some boats and ended up in the hospital a couple of times but was lucky to have got out with all of my bodily pieces and parts. Driving those lightweight hi powered boats that would run as fast sideways as they would in a straight line was a thrill, but dangerously exciting and very risky. Those were some fun and exciting times. We are not so bulletproof anymore.
