DAVE STRATTON OF INVERNESS PASSED AWAY YEATSERDAY, LEAVING BEHIND HIS KIDS AND LOTS OF FAMILY FRIENDS IN THE AIRBAOTING WORLD. DAVE OWNED STRATTON AIRBOAT PARTS. AND PRODUCED SOME OF THE FINEST WORK AROUND. JUST RECENTLY HE WON FIRST PLACE IN THE WILDWOOD AIR BOAT SHOW WITH HIS OLD GROUNDPOWER DECKOVER BOAT. HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY AND MY THOUGHT AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY..

So sad. I never met Mr Stratton but my wife works with his stepdaughter.
May he rest in peace.

Damn! He was a nice guy. He really helped my brother and I out. He did some fine work too.

Sorry to hear that. :(

I got to know Dave Stratton very well last year ...... he built the stainless riggin in my old boat for me.
He was a very good guy, and a damn fine fabricator too. I'll miss him.

Save us a spot on the big B.S. hill in the sky Mr. Stratton. We all hope to meet you there some day.......ride on in peace and look for our flags.

I'm sorry to hear this. I never met Mr. Stratton but I saw quite a bit of his work and it was clear he was a man who cared about what he did.

Condolences to the Family - and don't forget those who have lost a dear friend.

I think he was Bob Hoover's next door neighbor and dear friend. Condolences not just to the family - but to the friends as well.

It is a loss to the airboating community - A loss for all of us.

Matt & Laura.

I talked with Bob Hoover this afternoon about what happened
Bob was one of the many many folks who were introduced to airboating by Dave.
You are correct, moodfood, Dave lived across the street from Bob and Janis.
It's a profound loss for those who knew him and those who love airboating because of him.
I know swampjet would make a similar, but more eloquent, post if he were near a computer.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those whose lives he touched.

Our thoughts and prayers for his friends and family. He was one of those who took pride in his work. I guess the fellow above is in need of a great craftsman.Rest in peace. Cajun

DAVE IS CERTAINLY A GREAT LOSS TO ALL OF US. DAVE HAS BEEN DOING MY RUDDERS, SPECIAL FUEL TANKS SMALL PARTS ECT.FOR MANY YEARS NOW. WE WILL ALL MISS HIM DEARLY.GUESS YOU ARE RIGHT "OLF ART "THE GOOD MAN UPSTAIRS WANTED HIS EXPERTISE SO WE WILL JUST HAVE TO KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR "AIRBOATS IN THE SKY". AS FAR AS WE WERE CONCERNED HE WAS THE BEST DARN WELDER OF S.S. AROUND.WE WILL MISS YOU DAVE. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. PAUL, CAROL AND KEVIN

Carol, thanks for your post. Dave was a very fine man, and one hell of a welder.
Every time I look at my rudders (and that fine little bead down the back of them that ties the panel together?) I just have to shake my head. Wow, what a pretty piece of work.

More than that, he was a humble man who could have charged a lot more for his work, but didn't, just because he loved airboats.
I said it before ..... I'll say it again. I'll miss him.

I want to thank everyone for their condolences. I'm so grateful for all the lives that my father has touched and has been a part of. Yes, we are spreading his ashes on Saturday Dec. 22ND on top of BS Hill next to Potts Reserve. We will all be meeting at noon at one of his closest friends place Jimmy Ellis. Mr. Jimmy has welcomed all who wants to be a part of this day. You can unload at the Hernando boat ramp and meet at Mr. Jimmy's Lake house. For those who aren't familiar with this location, feel free to call me at the shop for directions (Trish Stratton) 352-568-1547 (Sumter Airboat Accessories). We will be munching back at the lake house shortly after we spread his ashes. Our family wants to thank everyone who has been a part of our Dad's life and the airboating world. Airboats were his life. Our Family thanks you all for being a part of his life and especially a part of his world. Trish Stratton
