Airboatting in Ut

Well-known member
I could not believe that there is a Airboat Tour company in UT.

Just outside of Salt Lake.

Richard the owner great guy, so if any of you guys are in Salt Lake City you have to make some time to ride on his boat.

It is amazing the difference in water from NE, Florida and know UT.

Just wanted you all to know about this.

Shhhhhhh! Keep this one quiet. We airboaters in Utah have a huge area that is perfect for airboating. Large lake, beautiful mountain scenery, and some of the best duck hunting in the nation!

It's a bit colder than Florida though.

I had a great time. My wife I don't think she would think she would care for it because all of the bugs and spiders. Know I know why you guys have windshields on the boats, and not to keep the hair looking good. All the bugs and spiders.

Me on the other hand, anytime I can be on a airboat I am there rain or shine.

You must have taken off from the marina towards the south end of the lake. If you launch further north, you'll hit the part of the lake that is "fresher" (less salty). You'll still have a few bugs in the summer but no spiders. When the fall season hits and we have one good freeze, the bugs are gone! The temps still get into the 70's but at night the temps cool down and control the bugs. The windshield is not only for the bugs but for the cold air first thing in the morning. My hair still doesn't look good.

Manucan, do you remember a guy from Utah who was selling plans for a little plywood one-man airboat a few years back? The thing was powered by about an 8hp Briggs engine.
I KNOW I have a set of those plans around here somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them. I promised Marshmaster Pat that I'd try to post them when I found them. It was a pretty cool little outfit, and I'm sure he was from Utah because I remember that in one of the pictures he was riding in the Great Salt Lake.

Bob, these were little boats, around 8' long, and the single operator sat in a little "chair" nearly in the bottom of the boat. As I remember it only took one sheet of plywood and a few pieces of framing to build one. It was definitely not a cold weather or rough water boat. Cool though.

Northwest, that's one that was on the site I'm talkin about, but it was on there before. There was another one, a lot smaller. I'll look again today .... I know
I have the plans for that little feller around here somewhere.

Feather, Sorry I did not respond faster. Too much work and not enough play. I am not faimilair with the one man airboat. I'll bet that would turn some heads. Let me post the question on our local Airboat forum, Utah Airboat Inc and see if I can they can help.
