Aircraft spark plugs are very spendy. I have been to several automotive stores trying to cross refrence spark plugs but no luck. Do any of you know where to get plugs without paying the aircraft premium? I have a 220 GPU my friend 470.
BUD1,
All the advise above is correct.
You can get those plugs at any real auto parts store, but you will probably have to change out you stock shielded ignition wires to automotive style plug wires.
The hardest part of this is terminating them in your mag.
Check this thread, and you can search the forum for more info about plug wires for aircraft engines.
I always ran C-86 AC sparkplugs when I had my 220 GPU. If your motor burns oil you can go up one heat range to C-87. The Autolite 386 are also good sparkplugs for a GPU.
