I have a 1951 continental 0-470-11a it is supposed to have a gear driven alternator/generator on the front of the case. Would anyone know where to get one of these? I will buy a core and rebuild it if I have to. THANKS

probly be cheaper to just convert over to an automotive alt, give dick waters over @ airtec a call, he's in mims.

If you put it back by the prop check your bolts regularly,my buddys q series came apart thursday at spike camp in cocoa cause the alt came loose.Had to drag his boat back to the water, and it wa ROUGH thursday nite

You can try Dave's Airparts.

They are extremely pricey ($700.00) but the piece of mind is why I put one on my 0540.

No belts, bolts or brackets to break off & go through the prop.

Sure, you can go down to the auto parts store & pick one up for 50 bucks but again for me, it's a piece of mind thing.

One more thing, the gear driven alt is manufactured to av-specs & about bulletproof.

I have yet to talk with anyone who has had to replace it.
