Would like some opinions some thoughts experience on alumitech Hulls thanking very seriously about getting one 15 x 8 I appreciate everyone who comments

heavy well built hull. Buddy of mine has same hull with 2’ rake. Has a ZZ502 on it. 2.38 stinger and a 3blade Maximus. It will run dry just fine, carried a ton of weight in it hauling materials to camp. You can do anything you want with it but a slow left turn lol

Have a 2021 14x8- but I had them customize it from their original design. I went with 20" sides, 18" transom, added 5 extra stringers, 2 Jack's, and a shimmed cross brace. 30" rake with a step. Strapped a 550 cubic inch big block with a 2.37 and 4 blade JX to it. I never looked back - to busy looking forward at all the bushes I plow over-

Alumitech builds an awesome unmatched hull. But if you want custom rigging, I'd advise you to buy their hull and take it somewhere to have the rigging and cage built.

My boats for sale right now because I have alumitech building me a 16ft hull for a new big block I'm having built.
Bigger family now- need a bigger boat.

My biggest problem is I can't decide on what size motor maybe that's a good problem to have

I have my second Alumitech hull scheduled to be built. I ordered it sometime in March. My current hull is a 15'x7.5' modified AGI hull with a 540 BBC. It's built like a tank with extra T-bars and other bracing. We do things different in Louisiana. Jim fusses about it but accommodates me. Ask him about the longer tapered grass rake. He named it after me.

They do make several style hulls hard chine, soft chain and a 2 cut and 4 cut hull the 4 cut has is more curved in the front 1/3 of the hull.

I have run a 14x7-6 4 cut hard chine Hull (AGI-2 I believe) I have run four different engines on it starting with a DD 473 caddy, 5.3 with 2:1 then a 2.68, a 6.0 with 2.68 and recently a 408 with a 2.55.

I am the second owner got it in 10' and hull is a 96' with 1/8" bottom and sides I believe the side are 20". Setup has always been a Stainless steel front drive with a rear double 30gal tank and 1 battery. When I bought used from Alumitech I had the add 3/4 length stringer in between the standard stringers.

My hull at idle with iron 408 and oxbox has maybe 10" of freeboard and a 6" at the rear lip, was worse with the DD.

My previous boss had a 15x8 with BBC, aluminum heads and stinger box. Sides looking tall maybe 30" never measure them but it floated higher in the water than mine.

I run mainly the gulf in a very rocky area My hull has a number of patches on the bottom and am on my 4 piece of poly. The bottom is definitely beat-up, the hull still runs flat and handle well.

To me a hull has to have good looking gunnel line, almost every manufacturer a straight or flat gunnel line except Alumitech

I would buy another one in a heartbeat or maybe a Hamant.

Thoughts on a 490ls waterthunder for a motor this is going to be a search and rescue boat could have at least five to six people at times as well as pulling boats in

Why? It seems silly to me to put a hopped up on steroids LS race motor into a boat that by description needs to be reliable and run on low grade fuel.

For the cost of 1 passenger a big block can do all you want and run on 87 all day. Add a E85 tune, add 93 tune, add a 93/nitrous tune, add a 110/nitrous tune, etc. etc., a big block can be versatile on an equally sized hull.

In my world 200 lbs or an extra passenger is big. For your described application a Big Block is the only choice worth considering, you get power with reliability. Hull size is where the optimizing should be done.

Well to tell the truth I thought about a big block just not sure what size I don't want to go Overkill but I want enough power I can pull another boat in if he happens to be stuck somewhere

If it's search and rescue I would be building a pump gas motor. Never know what the fuel situation and my have to refuel several times.

I believe the Oxbox family is a 632 fan, may be worth talking to Tanner or Bryan

I will say that the owner of the Gulf Hammock Fishing Club has a 18'x8' floral city with a Levitator 454 that runs surprisingly strong.

I am not personally a levitator fan and floral city hulls are heavy, engine pushes his boat with 6 people on it very well and will run dry.

Well if I was just going to use it for let's say after a storm then I would build a 502 and put on it but running Kissimmee and other places you got to have power to pull another boat so that's why I would say a 632 the motor needs to idle real well at a low RPM and it needs somewhat low compression for the bad gas so I figured a 632 would make up the difference for the size I do appreciate everyone's advice very much

After 2 motor failures from "airboat motors" built by Prestige, both motors did not run over 20 hours each.....waiting an average of SIX MONTHS to be rebuilt....I went to a 632 built by Ohio Crankshaft. 850 hp...All parts are new not pulled out of a junkyard...New Dart Block for the 632 build. It is a beast on the pictured Alumitec 16x8...
I personally know of 3 other airboaters that have failed motors by PM and all motors took SIX MONTHS to rebuild.
Not one issue. It gets better fuel economy along with costing LESS. The character you communicate with has less hours of seat time than my 14 year old grandson....Don't overspend on hype spun by a snake oil salesman.
Does a engine 'know" it is on a airboat?
