HENDRY COUNTY
At about 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, the operator of an 18-foot aluminum Bass Tracker lost control of the vessel while traveling in the Rim Ditch. A female occupant was ejected from the vessel, but the operator was able to stay in the boat as it traveled over the large rocks placed on the canal banks as rip rap. A passing airboat responded to a distress flare displayed by the operator. The airboat was able to recover the female victim who was struggling in the water. Injuries were minor and Officer Eddie Brown is investigating the crash.
