Another Newbie here

I've been reading this forum for some time now and have learned a lot thanks to everyone here.
I finally picked up an airboat last week but due to other projects and work that needs to be done to the boat, It'll be a few weeks before I get it out. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys- maybe in September !
I guess I should start looking for insurace. I have progressive on my other boats, but don't know if they will cover the airbaot... I'll give them a call today. Any other ideas on insurace ? I see Merkel referenced when I did a search on this site Any other ideas for the best deal and service ?
While I've had power and sail boats for years, this is the first airboat. I'd like to get out and play in some skinny water where I won't be bugging people until I get comfotable with it. Any recommendations for a place to play/practce ? The closer to Ruskin , the better.

welcome aboard and lets see some pictures. Where is ruskin exactly (near tampa?)? Sure there has to be someone around here near you to show you where to ride. Welcome to the addiction :twisted:

If you dont mind salt water ! Come south on 41 second circle k on left ! Turn rite to Bishop Harbor ! a low tide deal ! I live rite down the road from there ! Out there a lot ! Mr J just about 20 miles south of Tampa on 41 !

JPatter -- thanks for the welcome--- ytep-- about 20 miles or so sount of Tampa . I don't haqve a digital camera yet -- so I'll have to see ifr I can get someone to take a pic or 2 to post
Fatboy--- yep - know the area a bit--- fished it a few years ago , been thinking about kayaking some of the branches there that feed into terra ceia -- was also thinking Cockroach or maybe the Little Manatee above I-75 , launch over downb at the end of Stevens rd ?
