well here is another one for the books. Geez it must be something in the water around gainesville. I have always been a gator fan but them seminoles are starting to look good heck maybe even the bulls or the hurricanes. I think gainesville has some radiation that is warping brain cells. This one says airboat noise will cause sexual dysfunction. unbelievable.

I was just talking with my brother about Gainseville today. Dealing with the local jurisdicitional authorities there make us wanna puke.
Theres alot of good folks around there, but the towns just loaded with liberal thinking cooks like that.

I think their scared, but can't admit it.

Airboating is an extreme freedom. The sort of freedom you can only get in the USA. The freedom to go where most ordinary mall dwellers, and starbucks sippers would never even think of venturing. Thats what I like about airboating. Freedom.

But with that sort of freedom comes responsibillity. When your going to head out miles into the wilderness or marshes, well you've got to take all the responsibillity for yourself. That's fine by me.

People who think like they do you never take on that sort of responsibillity for themselves. They expect to be able to call someone to save them from themselves, or others, and be there in a matter of seconds.

Ahh, security. Bliss

Because they see others going boldy where they fear to go, they resent it.
I don't think they can admit it to themselves.

Therefore they attack under the guise of environmental crusading, health issues related to noise, public safety, whatever. This way the thing they see others doing, that they don't have the guts for, can be combatted and they don't have to aknowledge their own inferiorities.

Hey but that's ok. It's a free country, and they are entitled to see things the way they want. They don't wnat to have to look at themselves very hard in the mirror. They would rather feel secure in some junk science statistics that tells them that its not their fault. Wave them in the air, while screaming for someone to stop the hurting.

I just want to continue to enjoy the freedoms that are important to me, and I try to do that with out disrupting others from the enjoyment of their freedoms. I try my best anyway.

Stress, I get stressed when I don't go for a ride every so often.(I think airboatin is a great stress release. It is for me anyhow.)

Sexual Dysfunction If you ask my wife she'll tell ya the sexual dysfunction is inproved after a boat ride!

yep she should be certified. Well we are standing our ground but we are gonna have to get them quiet in order to keep them. WE are gonna have to change where we run wide open at. And yeah we were here first but all that stuff just makes good blood pressure high. They will probably never build in the glades or the other places where we should go in order to run wide open at anytime of the day or night. If we continue to try and do that around houses we are going to lose it all. I am not really concerned for the rest of the time I will be runing but just in case my kid or grandkids want to run I will do what I can to keep it a viable option for them.

Hey guy’s that is a way left wing bleeding heart liberal spewing news paper, for people who think it’s the government’s responsibility to take care everybody. What has our world come to ? since the begining of time when man started beating on things it has all been about noise . Lets face reality ,man is the loadest thing in the jungle.We have spent a hundred and fifty thousand years perfecting our noise and now over the last few years some people want every body to be Quiet.
 
This is a true story while I was speaking at a meeting with the county commissioners about a proposed race track in Melbourne. I had the main speaker for the retirement community that opposed the track because of noise issues request that I speak up because he couldn’t hear me. All of the loud laughter that followed his comment really hurt my ears everyone got the irony in his statement. I could have not made a better point just like someone stated earlier I never looked at that way but maybe people do get made at us because of our desire to be adventurous and enjoy the great outdoors. We all work and PAY OUR TAXES and I can proudly say I have yet to meet an air boater that lives off the system we debate allot of different views but airboaters seam to be self sufficient and don’t need anybody to take care of them especially or government. And when we do something stupid we only tend to hurt ourselves.
 
What the heck is this Russia? Why don't we outlaw lawn mowers & chainsaws while we're at it. If noise was so detrimental to ones health and welfare living near the railroad tracks or a major highway would be declaired hazardous to your health. Living in the flight path or an airport or military airbase would have droves of people seeking medical attention and surely prompt state and local government to warn the population of this possible hazard. The fact of the matter is there is a certain group of people out there who are against airboating and are doing what they can to try and get it banned. Noise is just the leverage these people have on their side right now to use against us.

Moodfood, That saying, (loud pipes save lives), was the bikers trying to make a point to keep them loud. The same reason you stated about airboats, so you can see them!!! Believe me when I tell you that the cops here in Daytona will give you a ticket in a heart beat! The D.U.I comes after. Most is for reving the bikes up. Hell, I don't even think they have a decimal meter, its the cops discression.(hope I spelled that right). They reroute the traffic on the beach side because of the complaints from the folks living there. Now the complaining didn't start until a few years ago when alot of folks from up north started buying on the beach side in there fancy condos. They formed a Nieghborhood beachside watch group and started complaining at the comission meetings and getting there favorite folks voted in. Now they are trying their best to run Bike Week out of Daytona where it all started. Now Ormond Beach is getting more Biker friendly and alot of folks are going to Orlando! But we have a Performing Arts Center now, WEEEEEEEEE :shock:. The biggest Harley Davidson shop around is moving his shop to Ormond Beach. No one can blow off steam without Big Brother watching out for our safety. Didn't mean to rant but I have a Harley also. Picked two of the most hated hobbies I guess :cry: .
 
Heck they ran spring break outta fort lauderdale I guess bike week in daytona is next. I noticed you said the largest dealer is leaving town so it doesn't sound like its a good business decision to fight them. my my times they are a changin.

Don't hardly know what to say .. have lots to say but it wouldn't come out right so oh well maybe I will go look for some land in OCHOPEE. I aint been there in years and years so it is probably now all condo's.

I hate to be the one to cr*p in your "wheaties" but...

Ochopee still has the worlds smallest post office but....Just down the road a few miles, Port of the Isles use to have it's owm little private airstrip and could launch airboat into the Gulf from there.

Japs bought it a few years back. Where the airstrip was, is now condo city! Made me sick....H@ll thats why Ms. Basketcase and I are just about ready to sell and head to the "Big Lake" or Kissimmee area. Only a couple of thousand acres left in Big Cypress to legally run, out of almost 400,000 acres. (2nd largest preserve in our beautiful state).

Dunno, but aint stayn here..

AWW MAN oh well ... Lake wales is not bad and my work would be centralized in the state that way ... cut down on the drivin time some.
