Got this letter in the mail and figured I'd transcribe it for evryone...
SSG Wetherington and SouthernAirboat members,
First and foremost, thank you for your support. It is great to know we have people back home supporting us and praying for us. Thank You.
Also, thank you so much for the awesome package of goodies! It made our week for sure! I can't believe the size of that Jolly Rancher bag! It's huge. We have it sitting at our gun position. So it gets eaten everyday. We have one guy that doesn't spend more than a few seconds on each piece. I watched him go through 5 in a matter of minutes! I told him we didn't have enough for him to be doing that.
Of course I was joking. All of the goods in the package have gone to good use. All was very much appreciated. It's difficult at times to buy that stuff over here. We move, or go out in the field at the strangest of times. So what you gave us was perfect.
As far as us, as you probably read, we are stationed out of Ft. Bragg, NC, and we are a part of the 82nd Airborne Division. More specific, we are Artillery, and we shoot a 155mm Howitzer Cannon. Our typical round usually weighs around 100lbs, and when charged with the "Super 8" powder charge can travel in the upwards of 30+ miles. So we can definitely reach out and get someone. Our unit is close to the Pakistani border, and so we keep fairly busy. Which in turn has been good, because it has made the first 6 months fly by. I hope the next six will be just as fast.
Well I should probably wrap this letter up and get it in the mail. Once again thank you for your support and the package.
Sincerely.
SPC John Kennedy
PS: Some of the letters that the kids wrote requested us to write back. Is there an address we can send these to, so that they recive them? If there is, we'd be happy to send them a letter back. My email is
John.Kennedy12@US.Army.mil
I went ahead and emailed John and told him to send the letters for the kids to me and I'll get with ya'll and figure out who they need to go to.
