This group leading the fight, the US Sportsmen's Alliance is the same group that sponsored the Trail Blazer events that I asked for participation with. They are staunchly behind all forms of outdoor recreation and currently are filing a lawsuit on behalf of bear hunting in Florida.
This is a National group the FAA is attempting to educate on airboat sportsmen. If you send a letter, please mention either that you're an airboater or associated with the FAA via your club. In the future, if we can align ourselves with National groups such as this, we will all breath easier.

Michigan sportsmen and hunters across the country must act immediately to defeat a 2006 ballot issue to ban dove hunting. Without sportsmen’s support, anti-hunters will rout Michigan’s hunting traditions and gain momentum to fight in other states.
Anti-hunters, led by the Washington, D.C.-based Humane Society of the United States, are bankrolling a ballot campaign to ban Michigan’s mourning dove hunt. The threat far exceeds dove hunting alone. If anti’s succeed at the ballot box, they will have a foot in the door and return to ban other hunting activities in the state.
To address the threat, sportsmen leaders have formed the Citizens for Wildlife Conservation (CWC). It was established to educate Michigan sportsmen about the anti-hunting threat, and will work to beat any attack on hunting including the anti-dove hunting ballot issue. To accomplish its goal, the group will need to raise $3 million.
“Sportsmen must open their wallets now, or face a devastating defeat by an extremely well-funded anti-hunting movement, said Rob Sexton, USSA vice president for government affairs. “With the necessary funding, the CWC can help lead sportsmen to victory and crush the anti’s efforts to rob us of our hunting heritage.
The CWC members include the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance, Michigan Bear Hunters Association, Michigan Hunting Dog Federation, Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation and Safari Club International.
“Our organization joined this committee because we know the anti’s will not stop if they ban dove hunting, said Hal Haverstick, Michigan Hunting Dog Federation representative. “We’ve given money, and are encouraging other hunters to join the fight. We simply cannot let the anti’s gain a foothold in Michigan.
Take Action! Get involved today to help stop the anti-hunters. To learn more about what you can do, contact Citizen’s for Wildlife Conservation at (517) 371-1041 or visit http://www.cwcmi.org. You can also contact USSA at (614) 888-4868.
