Anybody got a metal bandsaw?

I need to find a metal bandsaw. Either a horizontal one or a stand up one. I just got back from buying one at Harbour Frieght in Tampa, spent 2 hours putting it together and it wouldn't hardly scratch the 1" cold roll without stopping the blade.Now I gotta take it back to Tampa. I don't know what you pay'd for the scratching one but the one we bought for about $1000 from acklands grainger has been a great machine. It has worked its @ss off for the last 5 years! If you want the part number get back to me, I have to go to work next week

Wish I could help you out Cajun. I'd like a band saw too. I've never been a fan of Harbor "made in china" Freight. You may try Tractor Supply. I've been shopping for a small welder, and the guy at the welding supply place whispered in my ear that Tractor Supply has about the best prices on items like that. Better quality than H.F. too.

Is it worth just putting a larger motor on it?

Tractor Supply's welder prices were still too rich for my blood. (for now) But I need a welder! Does anyone have a small used welder (mig) laying around they'd want to sell? (or know of someone who does?)

If I find a band saw in my search for a welder, Cajun, I'll let you know. Do you still want one of my spare oxy bottles? I know I asked you that already, I forgot if you still wanted one or not.

Moodfood, Yea I could still use a tank if and when you get this way or I get that way. I'm trying to get ahead on my gator equipment and the saw is gonna help I think. The one I've been using just doesn't get it, so I need to find another one. Thanx Bud
