Smallest Ive seen on a boat was a 300 straight six. Thinkin about a one seater frog boat something great on gas. Itchin to build somethin new! I know it aint gonna think about any dry but thats ok.

I used to ride with a guy that ran a 2.8l chevy v6. it was in a 12ft aluminum hull spinning a 60" 4 blade warp. The boat wasn't a speed demon or a hill runner but he got great fuel economy and was able to cruise along with the group at 30mph.

Inshore, I have been thinking about building an 11 ft. boat with an all alu., 4cly 2liter motor with a 2 to 1 belt redrive hoping to get it in under 900 lbs. my current boat is a fiberglass 14ft deckover that only weights about 1150 lbs, and it will run anywhere. Zoom Zoom

Capt. Allen, as far as I know there is no commercially available redrive except for Chevy, maybe. At this point that might be putting the cart before the horse. I believe that you must decide what engine you are going to use, domestic or import. I would look for a late model low mileage wreck and buy the whole car. My current boat runs a complete electronic fuel injected and run fine for ten years.

Redrives are not that hard to build I have done it before. You need to think the whole project through first, do you home work and it should work out O.K., that's what I intend to do when I build my 4 cyl boat. Good luck, ZZ.
