anyone familiar with an old kline hull?

Looked at one this past weekend and it had an extension off the transom..kind of on a 45. Looked like it was where the single rudder was bolted to. A guy had told me it was designed to lift the back of the boat while dry running. Anyone familiar with this?

Cowboy could tell you about the Cline hulls.

in theory the extension on a 45 would make a shorter surface area on dry ground and only drag on hills or in the water normally when designing a hull you lift the forward section of rake depending on what you want the hull to do the exception is a sail boat design raises both Bow and Stern it may make a interesting ride as it would push your rudder further away form the pivot point so should steer quickly

let us know how it rides :D

it is only a bare bones hull.....no rigging, nothing else but a hull with a rake on it. Seemed extremely light as well.

RICH,if your not gunna get that hull can you let me us know how big it is and where and how much? :D :D :D

Cline and stossel are great boats. Palm beach style, made for sliding and the marsh. Great shallow water boats. Will run the hill great. I tkink they are the best looking boat out there, but i am old school. Not real popular up here in central fl due to low river water and very sharp bends in the river. Some of them boats are over 30 yrs old.
Good boats, but the Taylor or Thurman boats seem to be more popular these days.
If it's at a good price you better jump on it. To have on made today will cost you at least $8,500.00 for the hull alone. If it's clean and in good shape and at a very good price , you better not blink. That hull could last another 50 yrs.

RICH IVE OWNED 7 PALM BEACH FULLDECKS ,4 STOSSEL'S , A SIMPSON AND 2 KLINE , MY KLINE'S WERE THE LIGHTEST AND THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDNT PORPIS IN DEEP WATER , IF YOU CAN GET ONE WITH A STRAIGHT BOTTOM , GET IT YOU WONT REGRET IT.. HERES A COUPLE KLINE HULLS , AND KLINE USED TO RUN THE 45 DGREE CUT DOVETAIL SINGLE RUDDERS...

RICH,I`ve never had one myself but have diven a couple,if the price is right like brewster said you better jump on it before someone else does. I`ve changed my mind on the hull a buddy was gunna give me for my 150 and decided to go deck over and short. But buy it you won`t be sorry!! 8)

this one has 5....but the transom seems weird....it is an open deck with some real nice gussets for support on the sides. 7075 as well.

what do you mean the transom seems weird (see this is where pictures would help :D )

you may have you a good find there I like the soft rolled side chines that Cline and Stossel had to me it is a safer design, plus they look darn good!

RICH THE SURE WAY TO TELL A OLDER KLINE HULL IS THE RUNNERS ARE SOLID FROM THE TRANSOM RIGHT UP THE RAKE ALL ONE PEICE , A KLINE HULL WILL HAVE A 7075 BOTTOM..MOST ARE 5 RUNNER'S..

Only thing you might want to take in consideration is that a Kline does not ride like a per say hammant style hull. The back of the hull is rounded and is made for running the tall grass. Butt in deep water the back of the boat doesn't get on the plane like a hammant style hull. You feel like your waiting to get on the plane but it never happens.

Rich, was the transom laid back at a 45 degree angle approx 30 in wide ? I have pics on my home computer that I will post on Wed. My buddy had a boat that was like what you described. It was my understanding the boat was built like that so the prop could sit lower in the boat and it kinda acted like a splash guard so not as much water would go over the transom. I beleive Kline identified his boats with ANT in the hull identification number.

Just so you know that transom design did not work very well(JMO). Every time my buddies boat was in the deep water, he almost sunk it, and he is an experienced airboater. Story is there was 3 of those boats built at one time by an individual in West Palm. Those boats were built for one thing and that was hunting the dry at Gardners Marsh and they did that very well. Very well built hulls with fine craftsmanship and bare bones. The hull you looked at, was it in Davie ??
