Bill relating to the requirement of an airboat operator to have a special class.

I read the Florida Airboat Association supports this ?

I sure don't !

This needs to be the USCG making commercial operators get a license endorsement and training not the recreational users

Draft I viewed had commercial and recreational airboat operators born before certain date.

I will pull up the Senate proposal and check what is current version.

I just pulled up the Senate version and there were some changes and additions. It looks OK now made penalty civil not criminal and is commercial operator specific.

The early drafts I saw had ALL airboat operators born after a certain date that mirrored the mandatory Safe Boating Course Requirement.

No objection

Thank you ladyblackwater for keeping us correctly informed.

I agree with you: We need something REASONABLE (like this) in place before they get the steam to vote in something unreasonable.

Does anyone have any idea what the age cut off will be.
As a commercial operator I don’t mind needing training or an endorsement as long as it’s resonable. I was planning on speaking to our owner about splitting the cost of the DOI training coarse.

Thanks blackwater.
Those things all sound reasonable. Any idea what kind of class they are talking about? Is it the dept of interior coarse or are they going to come up with a different class.
