Anyone running an O-720 Lycoming?

There's one in the classifieds, I'll bet that'll run the hill! :shock:
How many ponys will they pull? 8)
 
I had a guy I work with who has been running airboats for over 20 years tell me that they are good motors but if you run alot of dry ground they are not good. He said they like to run hot and break up.
 
Here are some pics of a boat a guy I know had built, 13x8 Don Davis aluminum hull with a Mike Thurman built 720, est. 500hp?

It uses an Airflow fuel injection with a crank trigger DIS ignition system, truley a bad ass boat.

Seen a real nice one at the Ridge Sunday before last, was on a Predator hull. Would be curious as to how they perform. What do they weigh?

My dads cousin has a 12' Thurman full deck with an 0720 on it. The boat looks bad ass. He wont push the boat to see what it will do but when his wife gets to drive your better get out of her way. The motor burns less gas than my dad's 10' sled with a 220 gpu on it. He used to have an 0540 on the boat and was tired a people always wanting to race him so he got the 0720 and now nobodies even tries him.
