I was wondering if anyone has tried CamoClad on the deck and sides f there airboat. wondering how it holds up on the sides

other choice

can I get powder coat colors in camo colors?

i thought about doing my seats. gastank. and rudders in camoclad and spraying a clearcoat over it but noone could tell me if it would work or not. there is a boat in cocoa that is done in camoclad and it looked good the first couple of months but eventually had gashes and peices scraped off and after a while longer it really starded to look crappy. i dont know if the clearcoat would help against this but i wouldnt put it on the sides and the deck

Thanks, I have seen reg duck boats and mudboats done in it witch looked good but I painted my other airboat this season and most the paint on the sides as gone after the first few days I was hoping that was a option but I guess I will try to find the right colors to powder coat a the hull

I know of one guy who has it on his deck and sides and it works and looks great. Yeah, hit a rock sideways and it will tear, but it doesn't just rub off. Also, stay with the camoclad brand name, some of the other stuff is garbage. I have some strips of knockoff stuff that fades quick.

Hey Gold,
I don't think it's possible to powdercoat a hull with polymer on it.
The plastic will melt off in the oven.

This is the most durable vinyl camo wraps that we have found:

They have a lifetime warranty against fading....

Havn't tried it yet, but the treatment my boat gets, I can't imagion it would last long without getting scrapped up and really looking bad. I go over it every spring with the spray gun and give the camo paint another contrasting camo color for the ducks to deal with. However, with that said. If I was selling my boat, I would put a layer of camo clad or equivelant on the outside, really dresses up a boat and makes it look good and sharp to sell. Good value there I think. Bud

Yes, Camoclad can be clearcoated, but you would be best to stick with a flexible clearcoat when you do it, and if you want it to have a non-glare finish you need to add the flattening agent to the clear to make it dull again. Camoclad has changed their formulation in the last year and it is now warrantied against fading. Camoclad is screen printed and not printed like a wrap, which is one of the reasons why it holds up better overall...

Rich is absolutely right, Camoclad is NOT the same as all the knockoff stuff that you can have printed at about anybody who does wraps... HUGE difference! You can tell just by the feel of it that its pretty tough stuff and that it is different... There is two different kinds as well... you'll want the one with the permenant adhesive if your going to be putting it on a boat, and not the removable. Its less money too so it'll be right up your alley Goldhunter...  (sorry couldn't resist... )

I have huntingbigun's old boat and it has had clad on it for 3 years now and looks great. It's on the sides, transom, and the deck under the rigging.

Looks like this might be a good fix for my boat with the hole in the side.
Fix the hole and any more nicks and put on Camoclad.
Paint the inside and rigging and ride.
New prop, rudder linkage and cable comming.
Gust looked at their site and it says it's 23 inchec wude, that would go from my rail to the poly.
Would have to put in a small piece to fill in the bow
Any thoughts

hmmmmmm the removable has been on the sides of thunder no issuses, the permenant is much harder to get to lay flat, so every little bump in the paiint for those of us who can paint like PC :D . So I agree Camoclad is outstanding but I like the removable better. do not spill gas on it and rub it with a rag takes the dye off

The stuff on the new boat is also 3m product but differant brand and Bobby cleared it. The dealer is http://www.liquidcamo.com/ he also did all the dip work on the cover and stuff on the new boat, give them a call plus They have a shiny finish also if you want.

you south fla boys need to come run this weekend with KRVSA already got 12 hours on the new ride and few scratchs, no worries Rich I stop so you can get some fuel Brad & I ran for two days all over the marsh with out buying any :violent1:

You need a lesson in vinyl application Bigun???   :D Neither one of them are hard to install... and you really don't need to be a professional to do it, sure we vinyl people have a few tips and tricks that will speed things up, but this stuff is pretty user friendly overall...

Bigun maybe the reason that the dye came off is because you didn't use the right kind for a boat, perhaps?? :dontknow: ... :D Not trying to start a war or anything like that... All I'm saying is that the manufacturer of Camoclad recommends the permenant for a boat, and the removable for almost everything else and I figure there has got to be a reason for it otherwise they wouldn't have need to make two different kinds... right???

Wayne, i'll fill you in on a little secret...many many yrs ago a fellow by the name of Martin McFly came over and lent me his Flux Capacitor that a guy named Doc invented. Many SA members have tried unsuccessfully to see it.They've tried every trick in the trade including getting me Drunk at Liars Lodge, strategically placing HOT woman under Oak trees for me to chat with, and even cutting my steering box on my SD diesel........none have been succesful. Ed mack,Mike Felber,Plum Crazy, and a whole bunch of HOT woman have been able to truly enjoy the fine ride I call..........Slap your Momma

So if the gods of $$$ rain down on me between now and this weekend, rest assured i'll be there cuttin a trail ......and chasing tail

BStoneking--thats because Bigun only has showboats and never runs them....LMAO!

Evidently you don't get to go riding with us very much because I haven't seen any show boats following or in front of us, just hunt boats and manufactures boats. So come ride with us and see what is all about.
