MAN WE NEED TO SET-UP A RUN TO AREA 2 AND BUST SOME TRAILS , I SPENT THE DAY DOWN THERE RUNNIN THE SOUTH TRAILS THAT WERE ALMOST OVER GROWN TO BEING GONE AND A FEW EAST-WEST OUT TO THE BOARS NEST THAT WERE THICKER THEN HELL THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN RUNNIN...THAT JUST SINKS ANOTHER ONE OF THE PARK SERVICE AND WATER MANAGEMENTS BRIGHT IDEAS THAT THE GRASS WONT STAND BACK UP ON ITS OWN AND GROW THICKER THEN IT WAS AND VIRTULLY LEAVE NO EVIDENCE THAT THERE EVERY WAS A TRAIL THERE. BUT SERIOUSLY THE AREA NEEDS A GOOD RUN , THE WATER IS JUST GETTING HIGH ENOUGH IN THE MAIN TRAILS IN ANOTHER MONTH YOULL BE ABLE TO RUN WHERE EVER YOU WANT WITH A FEW MORE RAINS.. BUT IM GONNA TELL YA WHAT IF YOUR HEADING BACK TO THE BOARS NEST YOU BETTER BE READY FOR THE MUD CLUMPS AND DUKES OF HAZZARD JUMPS HID UP IN THE SAWGRASS , I LIKE TO PUT THAT 550 PALM BEACH HULL ON HER SIDE A TIME OR TWO TODAY RUNNIN CROSS COUNTRY..BUT IM SURE MOST FOLKS HAVE ENOUGH SENCE TO STAY OUT OF THE GRASS WHEN ITS THIS DRY.. GRANT , COWBOY ,CANEFAN WHERE WERE YOU BOYS ?

Sounds like you had one hell of a good time! I wish I could have been there, but we kinda promised P2 we would put a few days into his new hull.
That went well and P2 is well on his way to owning a new metal hull, another couple of long weekends like this one and it will be a reality!

Brewster--give me a shout next time you want to run...I was going to this weekend, but the Injected distributorless Cadillac powered Mustang is soo close to finished that I am pulling out the stops to run it this weekend. Best, Charles 954-444-three one 89

Shoot me up too. Would love to go with someone who knows the area.
My boat just has to stay in the water lol.

Dudley came down and Cowboy, Dudley, our buddy Eike, and I headed out into the Indian marsh. Only trouble was we brought the wrong toys from the toy box. We knew they'd had some rain down there but thought it was still 4 wheeler country. Not this weekend it wasn't. Conditions were perfect for the boats we left at home in Jensen Beach. If we'd had more time I might have been able to talk Cowboy into the six hour turn around to go and get them. We still had a good time and gave Dudley a little Cypress marsh sampler. We stayed close to the landing and spent the night at friends accommodations so as not to cut up the marsh too bad.

Cowboy and I would love to come out there too and help bust the trails open again. It's been a long time since we've been out there and there are a few camps I'd like to see again. When we were kids our Dad was partners with some others in the Fountainbleau. He took us all out there nearly every weekend.

10-4 I HEAR YOU GUY'S ON GETTING THEM BOATS READY , AS CLOSE AS YOU GUY'S ARE GETTING TO HAVIN IT FRAMED IN SO YOU CAN START DECK SUPPORTS ITS HARD TO TAKE A BREAK NOW.. IM HOPEIN TO BE STARTIN A NEW ONE REAL SOON MY SELF...

YA CANEFAN THE GLADES IS FINALLY GETTING A DRINK SHE NEEDED , A FEW MORE GOOD RAINS WILL BE BACK IN BUSINESS , UNLESS WATER-MIS-MANAGEMENT HAS ANOTHER BRAIN FART AND DECIDES THE OCEAN AINT DEEP ENOUGH AND STARTS PANKIN BECAUSE THERE MIGHT BE A STORM IN CAMEL PAW INDIA AND STARTS PUMPIN ALL OUR PRECIOUS RAIN WATER TO SEA INSTED OF WERE WE NEED IT IN THE LAKE AND THE GLADES..

Yeah, I rode it on saturday and the grass is filling in the lesser travelled trails fast. The East side is pretty good though. JR and the other guys with camps have been ridin the East side every week.

Brewster my friend told me he saw the locks open at the spillway in lakeworth I think it was. Looking forward to mashing some grass with you though.

YA DROUGHTSTRICKEN , I MET A OLD BOY JR. WITH A 540 ON A OLD SIMPSON OR STOSSEL FULL DECK , NICE RIG , WHEN I WAS OUT THERE SUN. HE SAID HE HAD RAN OUT ABOUT AS FAR AS NAKED LADY AND TURNED BACK, WE TALKED FOR AWHILE AT THE LANDING HE SEEMED LIKE REAL GOOD PEOPLE..

MAN I LIKED TO CRYED WHEN I GOT OUT TO THE BOARS NEST AND SEEN HOW BAD OF SHAPE SHE WAS IN.. OLD JERRY AND HIS CREWS 2 STORY COME COMPLETLY DOWN , THE MAIN COOK SHACK ROOF IS GONE , JOE AND WALTS AND THE ELECTRICIANS ROOMS ALL FAIRED WELL.. IVE KNOWN JOE AND THEM BOYS ALONG TIME AND HAVE SPENT SOME GOOD TIMES AT THAT CAMP , THEY GOT A GOOD BIT OF NEW WOOD OUT THERE , IM GONNA ROUND UP SOME BOYS AND GET WITH JOE AND HELP THEM FELLERS BEAT SOME NAILS AND GET THAT OLD GIRL A ROOF BACK ON HER..HECK IM SURE SOME OTHER CAMPS ARE EVEN WORSE , THEM STORMS DID A #

D-Brewster, I think that the Broward Airboat and Halftrack Club bought that camp just recently and they are the ones that are doing all the work. I hear ya on the condition of the Boars Nest, I went out after Wilma to check on the Never Rest and the Boars Nest really took a beating. Beleive it or not it really looks good now. Every roof was in the water along with alot of the contents of the camp.

Folks if you think that area looks bad now you should have seen it before we removed two dumpsters of trash last August. It was about this time last year when a couple of us went out after work to put flyer's on the camps to let them know we were having a cleanup. I do not know what east trail you were using but the one by McDonald's camp is not used anymore for some reason they have built a trail closure to the east, alongside all the homes and it looks like I-95. On the day of the cleanup I said something to the camp owners. I spent a lot of time fighting for our Airboat rights but must say this was a foolish move to build the main trail in and out along the homes. The old East trail by McDonald's camp need to be reopened and used more often. They told me the new trail is safer that may be true but it is deadly to stopping what we love. I believe Lyle with the airboat rides made the trail but he does not operate at night or go froging into the late hours. Just I opinion but if you use this area we need to bust some old trails open again. Squeaky wheel gets the grease look at what I told you and use your eyes let's look at the big picture not what's easiest to do to day. And yes it's true the Broward airboat club has bought the boars nest.

BWRIGHT I COULDNT AGREE MORE ON THAT TRAIL BY BOBS OLD CAMP , I HIT IT IT 1ST OFF AND LET ME TELL YOU , I WAS THE 1ST BOAT DOWN IT IN AWHILE , ITS GONNA NEED TO GET RUN HARD AND GET SOME WATER FLOWING DOWN IT AGAIN...IT LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE HAS BEEN FOLLOWING THE TOUR BOATS AROUND , WE GOT TO GET OUT THERE AND OPEN THEM BACK UP , WE STILL NEED ANOTHER RAIN OR TWO... ILL BE OUT OF TOWN THIS COMING WEEKEND BUT ID BE READY TO RIDE AGAIN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKENDS AFTER THAT IF YOU GUY'S WANT TO SET SOMETHING UP..

ALSO BWRIGHT I HOPE YOU GUY'S KNOW HOW MUCH WE ALL APPRECIATE THE EXTRA EFFORTS AND CLEAN-UPS YOU GUY'S HAVE BEEN DOING..

MY POST ABOUT AREA 2 LOOKING RUFF IS ABOUT HOW GROWED UP THE TRAILS HAVE BECOME FROM LACK OF USE AND DROUGHT..NOT TRYING TO KNOCK ANYBODY FOR THERE CLEAN-UP EFFORTS...

Brewster no apology needed I didn't take it that way. I loved your post and most of the time you're on the money I enjoyed reading them. There's no doubt in my mind you're a funny guy and I would enjoy Airboating with you, sound like a blast. I think the reason why a lot of people have quit going there is due to the bandits at the boat ramp. The other reason is a lot of us are using the Kissimmee River PUA it's like when you're a kid your parents made you eat something so much you don't like to eat it anymore but every now and then you still like to get a taste of it. I do enjoy going to the grass, the last time I was there was at the cleanup in August 2006 I guess it's about time to get down there again :)

I plan on runnin some trails on Sat out of sawgrass park. Don't have a grass rake yet...can't bust trails. I just got the boat together and took it out briefly the other day on a canal.

So is there a plan for Sat? I might be able to ride in the morning if anyone is going to be running around.
Tim

:( unfortunately it is very common at the lox road ramp, and that's probably why most of my friends go for a ride somewhere else. We all worked too hard for what we own to have this happen. If they went back to taking a life for life, and cut off your hand for stealing this kind of stuff wouldn't happen. Maybe that's something we should put on the Florida ballot but I don't know if we would have enough votes because I don't think there is enough honest people left in Florida. :P

I would never condone a vigilante, but if someone were to hide in the bushes
and when them thieves come around just give em a free airboat ride out to the
middle of the glades for a little Eco. system education, at least those thieves
wouldn't be a problem any more.

That has been talked about and there are people who go down to their camps every week. It is possible it just may have happened we just have not found the skeleton.

THE EVERGLADES AND CORBET AREA USED TO HAVE ITS OWN JUSTICE SYSTEM WHEN I WAS GROWIN UP , IT WAS CALLED " THE LAW OF THE LEVY " EVERYONE KEEP THERE CAMPS UN-LOCKED SO IF SOMEONE BROKE DOWN AND COULD GET TO A CAMP THEY HAD A PLACE TO STAY , GET FOOD AND JUST ABOUT EVERY CAMP KEEP A 5 GALLON GAS CAN FULL FOR A EMERGENCY , WITH THE UNDERSTANDING IF YOU NEED IT TAKE BUT THE 1ST THING YOU DO WHEN YOUR BACK RUNNIN IS FILL THE CAN AND PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU GOT IT FROM..AND IF SOMEONE DIS-RESPECTED OR STOLE FROM SOMEONE'S CAMP EVERYONE WOULD GET TOGETHER TO FIND OUT WHO IT WAS A DEAL WITH THEM.. BACK THEN IT WAS VERY SELDOM THAT STUFF HAPPENED..NOWADAYS THANKS TO WATER-MIS-MANAGEMENT THE GLADES DRY UP EVERY YEAR AND EVERY PUNK ASS KIDS FROM TOWN WHO DONT HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO PARTY AND FOLKS THAT DONT RESPECT THE WOODS AND CAMPS WHO OWN A 4 WHEELER CAN GET OUT THERE TO THEM AND STEAL EVERYTHING THEY CAN AND BURN AND BREAK THE REST..

DUECE -GREAT PICS OF AREA 2 BUD... BY LOOKIN AT THOSE PICS THE WATER HAS COME UP QUITE A BIT SINCE I WAS DOWN THERE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, THE TRAILS WHERE ABOUT HALF AS WIDE AND SO WAS THE LANDING AT LOX.. A FEW MORE RAINS LIKE WEVE BEEN HAVIN AND I THINK WELL BE BACK IN BUSINESS , WE NEED TO PLAN A RUN DOWN THERE IN A COUPLE WEEKS..
