Thanks
Andy

I HAVE A 13FT FIBERGLASS PREDITOR WITH A SB CHEVY PROBABLY ABOUT 300HP AND A 2 TO 1 STINGER GEAR REDUCTION WITH AN 80 INCH 6 BLADE WARP DRIVE. IM CURRENTLY BUILDING THE BOAT AND I HAVE NO CLUE HOW WELL IT WILL PERFORM. IM CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR SIMILAR BOATS AND IT APPEARES THAT IT SHOULD DO OK. I DONT KNOW WHEN IT'LL BE FINISHED BUT ITS GETTIN CLOSE AND IM GONNA HAVE TONS OF QUESTIONS FOR THE FINAL ASSEMBLY AFER IT GETS POWDER COATED. GUYS YALL GOT MY ATTENTION ON THIS THREAD!!!

THIS SHOULD BE A GREAT THREAD TO POP INTO AND ASK THOSE QUESTIONS. IM PUTTING MY BOAT TOGETHER ALSO!

14 FT COMBEE HULL
406 SBC DIRECT DRIVE
HOLLEY 500 2BL
72" WHIRLWIND 2BLADE STUMP PULLER

YET TO GET IT ON THE WATER. :)

IS THERE THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIRECT DRIVE AND GEAR DRIVE? IVE LOOKED AT ANOTHER BOAT THAT IS A DIRECT DRIVE AND THE SAME LENGTH BUT IS HEAVY HEAVY. ( I CAN PUSH MY BOAT OVER ON ITS SIDE AND I CANT ON THE OTHER BOAT). I UNDERSTAND THE MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE OF TORQUE BEING MULTIPLIED BUT EXACTLY HOW MUCH?

12 foot round sided hamant 350 with a sticky valve, aluminum intake with holley 450 4 barrel carb. 72 inch power shift sig. series with slick bottom runs all over the hill best boat we have ever run!until we built the gear box boat now its just whatever you feel like running that day! they both perform real good.

15' 1978 Panther Aluminum Hull, stock 500 Caddy Direct Drive, 74" Whirlwind Stump puller 2-blade prop. About 43 MPH Wide open in shallow water, can run a grassy cow pasture with 5 people in the boat. I'm happy but am still human... waiting for that reduction boat dream to come true.

i helped my friend build his direct drive sbc on a 12 ft hull it turned a 72*36 wide blade wood prop about 2900rpm it was loads of fun and even made it through gardner marsh a couple of trips and ran dry pretty decent as lond as you didnt hit nothin that wanted to bog it down like them little clovers or short green grass as well as the ol black mud but as far as puttin around on the hill it would get u up there maybe not as fast as an a/c or a c/m with a reduction but hey if it gets u out there and u have fun with it as we did thats all that matters

Back in the early nineties I had a 1989 14' Airgator with a 472 Cadillac. If it seen dry ground, it would try to go in reverse to get away from it. It was extremely heavy, ran real good in the water and very reliable. Now I have 13'6 Alumitech with 400hp SBC and 2 to 1 gear reduction, difference between night and day. Good Luck

13 ft cottonmouth 400 sbc dd with alum intake ,600 edlebrock,,slick bottom spinin a 72 q series boat runs good

13'6" ft Cottonmouth with poly,Stock 500 Caddy DD,72*38 Wide Blade,Holley 650 4 bbl,Holley "blue" Electric fuel pump, Runs good haven't tried running dry yet, already wrecked her.. piecing it back together.. But it's all part of having fun right?

11.5 Star Glass Hull. GM 350 Crate Motor 72 Wide Blade Paddle Prop. The engine is brand new and bone stock. I dont like getting it above 35 because of the screws on the polymer. Never even tried to run it dry. It hops over the mud and cattail stops in 3A pretty good. I wonder what a carbon prop would do for my engine's longevity and would I get better performance by just adding the carbon without a reduction unit. I think the hull wouldnt take the extra weight in the back anyway!

12'8" x 7' Gilileo with a 350 and a 72x30KXL Sensenich wide blade, It needs some different components on the engine like a new intake and better heads but it does all right for scootin up and down the rivers around here. heres a video link:

i have a 11'4" aluminum Palm Beach boat without the palm beach dip in the transom , small block FORD 302 HO out of a FHP mustang , direct drive ,turning a 68/36 kevlar tipped Sensenich stick , she will run dry when its in the mood very stable in shallow and deep

15 1/2 ft rivermaster in the dd days.

Had a 12' glass hull with slick bottom running a SBC and 70"x36" stick prop. It ran the ground good, I could get up on the hill and run the bus and 27palms with everybody else but still going to a Gearbox.

I'm brand new... 500 caddy, 15.5 foot Hoffman hull, with Poly.
6 blade warp drive. It won't move off a sandbar on its own with 4 people in it, but it tries too. I"m about 100% sure changing props will solve all that.

And then later if I have the desire, I see no reason I can't add a reduction....

With the warp it supposedly hits 46... I get scared probably at 35..... Never had it wide open long enough to find out.

Jeff
