I have a 12'7"x7'3" hull with 14" side. what do you guys think about putting a olds 455 on this hull. My friends dad said he thinks it would be ok and want to build the rigging for me. This is going to be my first big engine boat. it will be a dd boat with a 72" prop. the deepest water that I will every go in would be about 3 ft deep, but I know that enough to get in trouble. I don't like to get crazy on the water. I just want some thing that will run dry and still be able to do a little fishing

let me know what you think good or bad

Thats asking for a lot from a 12' hull. 12' boats can usually float a SBC but adding the extra weight is cutting it close as to what it will float safely.

That hull appears to be a variant of the old Warden hull, decent handeling hulls but it really beggs for a 4 cylinder aircraft engine.

Scotty

I had a 455 buick on a 11`6 x 7 hull and let me tell ya,it would go any where,it was dd but the torque roll was enough that it would shove the right side under a foot of water if I nailed it and forget about stopping in water deeper than the boat  It tried to go down on me more than once, and thats when I got a 14 foot combee.Even dd i could still run some dry not alot but I was running a wood prop.If you interested in a 14 foot combee I have one with riggin for a buick and a gear box,all you have to do is change the rear legs,pm me if interested.

i wouldnt reccomend you do that unless your a good swimmer. there are several good used hulls that are for sale online and im sure you could probably find some one who would trade you for that jimmy white hull that you have.

YOU can do it. I have run these hulls alot. with iron Head's sbc and gear box. look at my picks. be carfull but it is very doable. the hull holds it shape all the way to the front witch gives it alot of floatation. this is a performance hull. i have many hours on these hulls with five different motors.

If thats the hull I think it is it will sit low in the back seeing that the front is just as wide as the back .

well I'm going to try it and see how I like it. I have seen some small boats with big engine on them. There's a guy that put his boat in at the same ramp I do and hes got a 10x6 with a 400sb and a gear box.

I'd like to see that 10x6 with a sb and a gear box

This is not the boat but its a bad ass looking little boat. It's a 10x7 and it had a sbc with a reduction.but I think it's been sold now
