I brought one home with me a 13ft big o hull with a Chevy 350 on it and a gear box, im learning how to drive it and using it in mostly salt water, can anyone give me some good ways to keep my engine from rusting

I too, bought a 14' high sided glass boat with a 220gpu on it for my wife. came from the west coast of Florida. they flats fished with this boat... the only thing you can do to protect your boat from saltwater, is to keep it out of saltwater. Im chasin salty rusty demons, 1 piece of conduit at a time.... ill never buy an airboat from "saltwater" again.. together my wife and I have 7 boats. Matching everything. Jon boats, jet skis, blowboats.. Except that odd number #7 which is my saltwater shitkicker Bayboat for when I feel like reelin in something big. Other than that I stay in fresh waters

And I literally fell in love with the idea of a blow boat. Found everything I needed to know on this site. And read all it had to offer for litterally a year, every night when I came home from work. The do's and don't handbook. Now I've made every mistake one possibly could w/o finding bottom.. but I felt like in the moments I've already read what to do. And I kept floating.. remember there's two kinds of airboaters.. those that have sunk and those that will sink... im on my 3rd boat still haven't found bottom and I owe that to this site.. I have no airboat buds. Am anti social like to be alone. Completely self taught all from this site.. and when in doubt tach that baby out!

I fish saltwater a lot and spray the motor, cables and such with Corrosion X the red can. I keep it off the belts. I don’t spray every time. Stainless steel works best for rigging because conduit will rust and aluminum rigging tends to crack at welds.

Painted steel and anything that gets hot is going to eventually rust. Steel heads around by the exhaust ports are usually the worst. If your in saltwater a lot consider using brass or stainless freeze plugs.

All my engines Mr Branch did with stainless plugs because we net fish with my boat and it blows saltwater everywhere.

Any aluminum can be polished and sprayed with a clear coat that really helps stop the metal from pitting.

Congrats on the boat a sbc gear drive boat is a great choice.
