* * Best 3 Blade Prop * *

I have a 10 - Blade Warp Drive Prop on my Airboat at the present time. After asking a few questions on here, it seems like most think it will take a 3 - Bladed Prop to be able to run my 16' X 8' - 454ci Airboat across dry solid sand bars. Speed is not a big issue, but would like to have as much as I could and still have the ablity to run dry.

So the question is:

Who makes the best 3 Blade Prop to if my need ? ? ?

I am a Sensenich Dealer so they get my vote. The Sensenich Q-Series is a really good pushing prop. What length are you looking for. They also make a wider blade also.

You may have some other problem besides the prop. Stan has a warp drive on his caddi, 16' deckover beltdrive 2.3 and hauls everything including the kitchen sink and he runs serious dry with it. there use dto be a video on here of his escapde when someone told him to pull in a certain spot.

he runs the turbo setup which makes the annoying weedeater sound go away.

Pm him and he can give you specifics about the pitch on it.

Looks to be a slider hull. When I had a Airgator slider, I had problems running dry until I installed jacks. Seems like I flattened the bottom over time and as soon as the jacks were installed I saw a 100% difference.

Looks suspiciously like a Marks Airboats Robicheaux boat to me. Sweet ride for certain.

HEY COOTER
I HAVE A IVO BLADE 4 SALE NOT SURE IF IT WOULD WORK 4 YOU OR NOT. IT MADE TO GO ON YOUR KIND OF SET UP, ASK THE GUYS WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT IT IF THEY THINK IT MIGHT WORK AND LOOK IT UP AT IVO PROPS AND READ ABOUT WHAT KIND OF PROP IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS. YOU CAN GO TO MY AD ON PROPS AND SEE PICTURES OF IT, GOOD LUCK IN FINDING THE RIGTH ONE. PS IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT OUT I'M GAMED.

IVOPROP Quick Ground Adjustable Magnum Airboat Paddle Propeller
Adjust the pitch on the ground in a matter of seconds by turning the screw adjuster in the center of the prop

I see you have a CH3 like me. My humble recommendation is a 3 blade "Q" ..... as far as I'm concerned, there isn't anything out there that pushes in mid range (where you run 90% of the time) as quietly as the Sensenich.

Is your belt drive a 2:1 ratio or a 2.3?

I agree with Olf, a 3 blade Q would be great if you get the right diameter, or even a 2 blade S Series super wide prop.

I don't know if Sensenich is really the "best". Everyone will tell you their prop is the best.

What I can tell you is I used to run a 5 blade Warp Drive on my direct 383, and I couldn't run much dry at all. Now I have a 2 blade Q and I can run anywhere I want to, plus it has more snap and is noticeably quieter at cruising RPM. Works for me

Sensenich gets my vote.

I agree with Red the Sensenich S series prop is awesome and pushes real good I have a 3 blade set up on my boat and it is real quit and smooth besides pushing real good

I"m running a 78" three blade "k" Sensenich on my 15' Cad powered 2:1 boat without any problems running dry.

I'm with cntry, look real close at the bottom of the hull. bbc belt drive pullin a ten blade is pretty much a go anywhere you want to boat with in reason.I'd be interested in prop width and pitch ,maximum engine rpm and what reduction ratio just for kicks though.
However I do recall some of the worst stuff to be on is damp sand it seems to conform to the design of the hull have seen a few 502's turn 3 blades with a lot of reduction havin to un ass there boats to get off the sand bar at the creek while dd caddis with wood props could wiggle on off loaded down.

The rivers I am usually on are wet sand, and loose sand. So basically, I guess it is kinda like trying to get started on a piece of sand paper. Like I said, I am a rookie, so we are learning and checking things as we go. The polomere on the bottom doesn't have any gashes or big cuts in it at all. It really looks pretty new.

I am not sure what the max RPM's of the engine is set on, I will check that out, but I am understanding that the 454's power band if in the 3500-5000rpm range.

Thanks for the help. I am still waiting on Pricing and info from Sensenich to see which prop I will buy. Thanks for the help and opinions cooter

Cooter, a 454 isn't a motor that will live a long time above 5000 rpm unless you've done some work on it to allow it to spin faster.

The good news is that you don't need to spin it to get the job done. Remember that it's torque, not horsepower, that turns a propeller so in my opinion I'd try to find a prop combination that will hold the engine to something like 4800 rpm wide open.

Do that and you'll be getting the best performance you can expect the way you're set up now. To get more will start to be expensive ...... engine work and a gearbox, and an even bigger prop.
