big block running backwards

Looking for some help, a buddy of mine has a 502 crate engine running pump gas and when he shuts it down it will keep on running or it will run backwards. I remember reading something in the airboat tradder when it was up and running about something that would shut the gas off as soon has you turned the key off. Or something like that. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks

Mine would do that occasionally when I ran 87 octane, I now put strictly 93 octane in it and it hasn't done it since.

also on the dieseling problem..avoid shutting down the engine hot..

let her idle for a few minutes before shutting down.. and check your idle rpm.
of course the solenoid that closes the throttle plate is what it needs.. I don't have
one on mine.. not good to shut down a hot engine and the I use 93 octane also.

I put one of those solenoids on my Cad and it works great. It allowed me to up the rpm's at idle to quiet down (yeah right) the Precision box somewhat. It's worth the money if you have a run on or run backwards problem.

I have a 502 runs on 93 oct, and we let ours idle down for prob 2-3 mins before shutting off and it dont do it but if u have to shut it down while the motor is hot it will back spin. So try and let ur motor idle down for a few mins and see what happens.
