Why would you want to do that when there are WaterThunder small blocks available ?
they weigh a lot less and put out the same or more hp than bbc create motors including 572
Simple....Just as T-Rex stated, there is no replacement for displacement AND usable HP in many applications.
I was very hesitant to reply to this Sniper, but I just gotta say...You have no idea how much influence this builder of Big Blocks has had on your boat. Dave and I are best of friends, and we made a pact to divide the two engine platforms.
There is NO other engine out there in my opinion that power to weight is better than the LS platform, and there is no better engine in absolute power on gasoline better than the Big Block Chevrolet.
I have to bite my tongue over and over again due to this, and as much as I know Dave is your hero, and I know he has served you well, there are some things you haven't been so filled-in about.
Here are some facts for you;
The crate 572 is rated at a wimpy 620HP. I have not seen one on a dyno that has tested less than 640 and tend to run about 660. Their AVERAGE power is AWESOME. They are not peaky or finicky. After all...They're 572 CUBIC INCHES! Their only real problem in my eyes is reliabilty in airboat applications ,and targeting of the power curve.I know it's hard to not seem biased, but take it from someone who upgrades/fixes em plenty.
I rate my 496s at 610.....If you read my website and HP ratings in airboat applications you will know why. It will be a cold day in hell before ANYONE tests my 496 and it makes less than claimed. Know why? Cuz peak HP will be damn near 700!
Here's a clue....Look at the prop of any boat, and you will know how much power it's makin.
I knew when I first started testin the LS it was the engine of all engines for the average guy on an airboat, but power is power, and light is light....There's some in-between, but no magic.
I understand you pimpin Dave cuz I do too. But we know where the line is drawn due to knowing what we're talkin about. You should get on board.
Now to answer the F'Kin question asked....Pickup points/mounts are identical. The only thing you need to watch for is the fact that the engine will come forward about 2" and make sure you have enough room in your seat package, and your cage is big enough to swing the bigger blade!.
