First off I'm new here. Ya'll have a very nice site with tons of useful information. I am so to speak new to the airboating world besides riding in them to go duck hunting but never owning my own. I'm fixing to buy one just getting feedback on it and price good or bad. It's a 1999 Diamondback 15X8 with 350 zz4 powershift prop, I think thats pretty much the jist of it. It's in great condition a retired gentlemen owned it and he has taken great care of it. It only has 207 hours on it. Price is 12K. Is this a good deal, boat? Thanks for any info.

sounds very reasonable to me all you gotta do is call and get a price on a new one and you will beat that man to death throwin the money at him tryin to get him to take your money if you really want one. lets see here motor 5000 prop round 2200 box around 2200 hull cage rigged yep its a good deal

Welp I went with my gut feeling and the boat is now mine. I picked it up tonight and we'll see what it will do tomorrow I suppose. And it also has stainless rigging so that made me like the deal better. So now ya'll will probably get tired of newbee questions but I'm sure I will ask them.

You should feel bad cause you stole that boat. 12K for stainless?? Are you kiddin me?? You can't piece together a boat of that size using used parts for under 12K, unless you aquire the parts for free.

Hoover, what part of Texas?

I have been known to travel a few hours to explore new sights. I am in south Louisiana.

Congratulations Hoover,I guess everything is NOT BIGGER :( in texas!!!! At least not the PRICES !!!!!!!!! I just purchased a kit boat from Bobby(Diamondback Boats) and paid that price without power/box/prop/rad/wiring/etc. so consider yourself lucky. Enjoy your new toy :D .

Well I guess ya'll have confirmed it for me for sure that it was a good deal. I will probably take some pictures this evening. I'm south of Houston on the coast. Galveston/Freeport area. Heck I would rather come to Louisiana and ride. There's a few places here but mostly it futher down in south Texas.

Well I just got off the water and all I can say is WOW. I didn't even ding it up yet. I was at least expecting to run into the dock or something. I even caught a few fish to make it that much more enjoyable. Truly an experience. This evening I've got to take the wife out and I will get some pics. I found that I really did not want to put it back on the trailer I just wanted to put around. The only problem I encountered that I might have fixed or it might be a norm is the damn thing won't turn off when I turn it off. It just spends backwards. So I looked at the timing and it was maybe a degree or two off. What is the idle supposed to be set at on these. Mine was set at about 800-900 seems a little high but could be the norm? After I adjusted the timing a hair it didn't do it anymore on the trailer. It was only like a little putter a 5 or 6 times before it would shut off. It didn't seem major but if and when I need to turn it off I want it to turn off. Any suggestions what it could be? If i let it idle for a few minutes before turning it off it won't do it. Just when I turn it off

The easiest way to prevent it from running after the switch is killed (better known as dieseling) is to let it idle for a minute or two before shutting it down. There are also electric servos on the market that prevent it also, they close the throttle flaps 100%.

The idle seems high, i normaly run them 500 to 600 RPMs.

Be careful with the timing, if its a Chevy crate engine only be concerned with WOT timing. 32 to 34 degrees BTDC at WOT.
