Boat pulls

Has any one back in the day done any boat pulls or tug a war. If your cage was built for it that would be some cool competition! We know we can run dry but what can you pull across dry ground.Have different classes and the same as trucks. the wait increases as you go.Might be a little crazy but i'd jump right in :D

Only thing you have to worry about is the back of the boat digging in if the boat is being pulled backwards.

You could line them up side by side, both with a sled

Or one at a time like the tractor boys do it ....... look for a 'through pull'.

I would worry about the rope breaking or whatever it was tied to. That sucker snaps back into your prop and you have just put your life in danger. We welded tabs to the back of the boat for pulling. I do not suggest pulling from the cage for fear you might pull it into the prop.

I'd like to see all that - but..... GRENADE!

My seat will be far away.

Or is that what you meant by "the cage properly designed for it"?
Is it even possible to build a cage that will contain an exploding prop and/or engine/gearbox?

the danger is what makes it fun.

I'm in - as a spectator.

matt.

I DONT THINK THAT WE CAN CONTROL THE STUPIDITY LEVEL HERE ! ONCE IT STARTS ON SOMETHING LIKE THAT ! I KNOW I CAN BE PRETTY STUPID AT TIMES MYSELF ! MOST OF THE TIME REALLY ! I THINK FAMILY BOAT RACING OR HUNT BOAT RACING ! GRASS BURNING RACING ! WOULD BE BETTER !

JRSTULTZ what happened to your boat?

The cam broke in the rear and knocked a chunk of the block out along with the cam plug. I bought a 350 short block, I'm gonna switch the heads etc. I should be up and running again by tuesday. Were you out there Joe?

No,I put my 2.68 gear box on,it don`t work with my prop :? ,so I had to put my 2.38 box back on.Tested it tonight 8) never got to the water, had to much fun on the hill.planning on headed down river Saturday or Sunday.Hope you get yours back together soon

I have a 78 inch psr.it wasn't ment to turn so slow. And with enough pitch to get my motor where i run it I was slapping wind instead of pushing it.It works ALOT better with the 2.38,still not at optimal but at least i can run the hill now.I plan on buying better blades,I`m getting some prices, and as money allows I`ll buy new blades, maybe even go back and try the 2.68,but for now I`ll stick with my 2.38

Joe, if I was going to a gearbox I'd be lookin at a 2.37 myself ..... I think they're being overlooked right now and you can get new boxes with that ratio at some pretty decent prices.

They'll still swing a mighty big prop.

What you been smokin Olf Art? I can guarantee 2.68 will pull bigger! new price within $100 for any ratio yoy want.

Cold, it's all about workin with what you've got to me.
If I were to go to a 2.68, with the boat that I'm runnin right now, in addition to the cost of the box and a prop that would do it justice I would need a new and bigger prop cage and a new and higher engine stand. Otherwise I'd be hiding too much prop behind the transom.

I can go to a 2.37 box and shorter"S" blades, get a lot more performance, and not have to re-rig my boat.
