Boat Ramp Lesson 101

NEVER,EVER unhook your winch strap and safety chain at a steep boat ramp before reaching the end of the ramp!! Unloading at Harney Pond Canal today ...backing in and look back to see the nose of my boat rising to the sky and the rear end going under. Fortunately I had a rope secured to the trailer and stuck the GMC in drive and drug her back up on the ramp and drained it out.. Fuel tank didn't go under but damn near half way up the sides of it. Kids are crying on the dock and my heart is doing double time. Sorry Plum... haven't had your old boat more than 10 days and almost Titaniced her!! Made a lucky recovery. Almost forgot how fun(and scary) owning an airboat can be.....just working out the bugs.

Man, that ain't nothin'. You ain't lived until you've had the boat skiin' behind the trailer. When I was younger I wouldn't have admitted it, but I've come to realize that everybody has their own version of fun sooner or later.

You know how deep that drop off is right there? TWENTY feet! You are so lucky that you had a rope attached!

We had to pull one up from there one night. That was a bad night  .

I'll have to look for you next time we are over there.

Post some pics of your boat.

Hi Rick's wife :hello2:
You know there was only about 100 or so people there that saw that. :D

1100 mile trip to the glades to ride with Bud, 1500 dollars in fuel, 300 dollars at the resort, Picture of the boat hitting the ramp at the Bud ride because somebody unhooked the winch strap...priceless :D

It's all good Rick. Hope you can make it down again soon. Wherever it is we will come meet ya!

Dumped mine off on HWY 60 in a hurry to get to the lake, two weeks later unloaded it about halfway down the boat ramp at Nocatee in a hurry(AGAIN!)to go fishing. The worst part was another airboater was putting in on the ramp north of me and rode by looked and keep on going. Left me to pull and winch it up myself! :x . What goes around comes around to the three guys on that boat!!!

The guy that rode this boat before me(PlumCrazy) was a lot uglier than the crew on board...but don't tell him I said so, cause I sure wouldn't want him mad at me!!
