:evil: County tax on my air boat $234.88 . They attempted to charge me $200 for the trailer tag. Homie don't play dat game. Got the tag fee changed---guess I'll have to pay the boat tax this time (yearly). This county is gettin ' crazy!!! Heavy equip. tax, self employment tax, business at home tax,farm tractor tax----they taxed my lawn mower! Next year my boat will be in Alabama!
 
It's getting hard to tell who us tax payers are supporting more the people on social programs or our government!
 
Dang Harvey I have not payed a dimes worth of tax on my boat the only thing I have payed for was the registration sticker to DNR maybe you need to move to Fulton county or maybe it's that I am Search & Rescue and you need to do the same but they have never asked for a dime out of me yet and you noticed I said yet
 
It's that I am self employed. I have to pay a business and personal property (plus other taxes). The dnr notifies the county that I have the boat registered and "Ta DAH". If I finance or purchase any equipment the county adds this to my yearly taxes. They also come up with crap like "hvy. equip. tax". A one time fee for the purchase, then a yearly fee and of course sales tax.

Sniper---My boat is available to our local sheriff and to Duke B. @ the fugitive squad. They offer to help with fuel; but, the tax thing is out or their hands. I hope Fulton doesn't start this.
 
Harvey, I offered my boat to the Clay County and St. Johns County Sheriffs up here if they ever needed me for SAR work. They told me that they'd be happy to use me sometime, but that ALL of my expenses would be out of my own pocket. :?

Kinda makes you wonder why a person should even care anymore.

Dang Harvey I sorry that they are having target practice with you on taxes and by the way I am setting up a call list for all the jurisdictions up and down the Chattahoochee if you would like on that list let me know I sure the Day will come and I will have something big and need your help if you could PM me with your cell and home #
 
I was wrong on the boat being a self employed thing---All boats in the county are taxed this way. I pity some of those guys with the really big buck boats.

Sniper ---call me any time---I'll be glad to help any way I can. Those sex stones on some parts of the river give me fits. I know where most of them are down here.

Olf Art---I know what you mean. We usually pay all our own way on stuff like that. I hate not to help;but, it really does get expensive. Hey---at least they usually feed us.
 
well so far the National Park service and all the Fire dept that I have worked for have payed for all my expenses and Cobb county fire dept even washes my boat for me man you can't ask for any better than that
 
I am self emp and I also just got a letter from the county wanting to know what I have and how much I paid for it. I have been self emp for about 5 yr now. All the sudden out of the blue I get this letter huh?????
 
Hmgm ..... tell em' what you paid for it ? I'd invite them to have a look at the depreciation schedule from your Federal returns since date of purchase.

You can only be taxed on something at current value. olf
 
they call it tangible property tax paid em for 15yrs just deduct them from my fed taxes or should i say my accountant does just a big game
 
Geez and I thought Screw York was bad on taxing everything...
Florida is really getting bad about taxes/fees/surcharges/.... Rented a car lately? there's "fees" attached (supposidly mandated by the state) for tire/battery disposal, tag & insurance recovery, and a 15% "airport" surcharge if you fly into MCO all that and sales tax to the bottom figure! 1/3 the cost of the rental goes to the State. :evil:
 
Fl has always seemed high to me on taxes and fees for example I can do a boat reg in Ga for three years and it cost me less the fl who only does them one year at a time.
