Sorry folks but I gotta brag on this one. I caught a 24.5 " largemouth saturday evening at OKEECHOBEE. he is at the taxidermist, I say he because it only weighed 7 pounds had it been a she it would have been considerably heavier. I caught it on a 18' fiberglass cane pole and a #4 aberdeen wire hook with a minnow. I really think he just got dumped by his lady and wanted to commit suicide because I never should have landed it. Oh well he is on the way to the wall now LOL.

cntry - that is really nice bass. If you don't have room on one of your walls or the wife complains, I am sure I could find some room ... LOL.

That is really something landing a fish that size on the ole cane pole. If that would have been a female, that would have really been a whopper. I didn't think anyone used those anymore. When I pull mine out, people give me the strangest looks. You would thing I was pulling out a shocking phone or something else illegal.

Nice catch! Hang that thing on the wall & enjoy the memory for years to come.

Cane pole & minnows sounds like speck fishing to me. Catch any?

Pat: I know what you mean people think cane poles are too old fashioned I like it because it is a very relaxin way to fish. I have heck I dont even know how much fancy gear and still like to breakout the cane pole .

Rick: The specks were runnin about a pound to 1 1/2 pounds only got seven but had a good mess for the pan. Speck fishin is one of my favorites. almost as much fun as crickets and bluegills that your hand wont fit around to get the hook out.

Normally you can't beat the places an airboat will take you for this kind of fishin but gotta admit I was fishin from the bank this time. I had a meeting to go to and was on my way home and always have a cane pole with me behind the seat in the truck it is still the best therapy I have found and cheaper than a shrink. LOL

Nice bass. we catch them here at a place called stick marsh but it's catch and release, but we usually catch the limit on specks a little bigger than your hand
