Hi all, heres a new idea that crossed my mind to day.

tell me what you think.

i was thinking of building 2 pontoon,s about 8 feet in lenght, then use a sheet of ply wood for the top connecting the 2 together.
now i have a platform with a pontoon underneath on each side.
then put a lawn mower engine on the back with a prop.
i bet this would go really fast.

i was going to make the 2 pontoons out of foam, then fiberglass em.

i think this would work for deeper waters and be alot of fun. it would be a amfibion pontoon boat.

any infor and ideas added to this would be awesome. engine size, propeller, for the craft i am stuck on about what to use. i dont really have alot of money, so i wanna make a fu fast project for lakes and ponds..... tx again...this would be 1 of a kind in my area and fun.. i think?????

There used toi be a guy where I live with a pontoon houseboat with a little VW engine and prop on it. I never saw it stuck and it was always somewhere different every time I saw it. If nothing else you will have a neat swimming platform.

Scotty

Should be able to get up to hull-speed with the little lawn mower engine though. Hull speed is easy to push to. It is 1.3 X the waterline length. Takes little power to get there, but to plane a pontoon requires massive power by comparison to a flat bottom hull.

tx every one, what if i made each pontoon bottom flat, kinda like a air boat, would that cut down on the drag.

or just for kick,s powerd water wheel in the back like you see on thoose big water wheel boats just thinking..............
