This poll is for the Members of Southern Airboat to give direction on what they think the priorities should be, in regards to our efforts in Helping Bud Marquis.

Please vote your for our preference, or post your comments here.

Now is the time to speak up y'all.

Thanks

This is what we need. Everybody involved needs to let us know how deep to get in the project. Restored to the day, or just enough to get him running ? Because of my involvement I will keep my opinion to myself. If it just going to sit in his yard, why all the effort. If it will be purchased as a museum piece, or displayed at airboat shows and functions then it should look it's best.

I THINK THINGS ARE GOING JUST FINE , LETS NOT LET ANYTHING SLOW IT DOWN.. EVERYBODY IS FINE LETS JUST GET BACK TO BUSINESS. I KNOW THE 1ST PRIORITY IS BUDS HEALTH AND HIS BILLS , BUT IM TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW FOR A OLD CRACKER LIKE BUD , GETTING BACK ON HIS OWN BOAT FEELING THE WIND IN HIS FACE AND HEARING THE SAWGRASS RUSH BY AND TO STEP FOOT BACK ON HIS OLD CAMP IS JUST AS GOOD MEDICATION AS ANY DOCTOR IS GONNA GIVE HIM.. THE GLADES WILL FIX A MAN'S SOUL FASTER THEN ANYTHING AND I GUARNTEE YOU THAT WHEN BUD IS SPENDING ALL THOSE HOURS ON THE PORCH , THOSE OLD MEMORIES ARE WHATS GOING THRU HIS HEAD...

P.S. IN MY OPINION AS CLOSE TO ORIGINAL AS BUD NEW IT , IS HOW SHE SHOULD LOOK.

COWBOY , JHON C AND THE REST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING AND DONT SWEAT THE B.S.

I like the restoration idea. I tried to vote for that and the Marquis fund but It would only take one. This is a good thing that is happening here.

I think when progress reports are posted like Cowboy does it really helps. The motor runs and things are moving forward.

If people are nervous about raising money for the restoration. Post the list of items needed. the make serial nos. the place to get them and the cost.

I would buy a part for the project as a donation. Just a thought.

10-4 Bowt /Brewster,

I voted for Restore Bud's boat.

That is a vote for the status quo, to continue what we are doing. Fix the boat all up, and continue to raise money to help out Bud. No change.

Things we should remeber.

Bud din't ask us for a darn thing. He never put his hand out asking for Money, His boat fixed, or anything else. I am solidly behind getting done what we have started.
Seemed that everyone was on board with fixing up his boat, and nobody had any reservations about it before today. If there is a great deal of Southern Airboat members out there who don't want to support it, then speak up now.
If there's many members who do support it, past present and future... speak up now.

I'm in it for Helping Bud first!
I wanna see Bud ride HIS BOAT, with the wind in his face.
Can't put a price on that.. just ain't no way.

I wan't to see the boat get saved.
It is an irreplacable piece of history for our Airboating heritage.
It is what I believe to be a noble effort. Regardless of what Bud decides to do with his boat ultimately.
Again... this is something WE offered to do for Bud. He did'nt ask for it.
He is trusting us to do what we said we would do.

We did tell Bud from the outset that we would like to do this for his enjoyment of HIS boat, but ultimatley we wanted to save it, so people would see it, and remeber what He, Ray, and that little boat did that night.

It should not be forgotten.

Nor should we forget what it is we are trying to do here.
Also, and this is important. No one is taking any donated money from the Robert Marquis fund to fix the boat. Only money that was specifically donated for that purpose will be used. All donated fund money for Bud, will go directly to Bud. it's that simple.

I'm still full steam ahead... doing the best I can to get the boat done.

I am waiting to hear what Mike Thurman says regarding the anticipated cost for his work..... Pledges have been made to help cover this cost.... these are from members who have already burdened themselves with quite a bit, so.....

I would rather see Southern Airboaters step up, and help cover this, or offer other solutions.

We are moving forward as far as I'm concerned...... until the Members of Southern Airboat stand up and tell me otherwise in large numbers.

Perhaps there are many out there, who never got the chance to voice that opinion.
That's what this poll is really about.

Cowboy, Mike and the like,
I encourage you to contact and speak with JohnC regarding this matter. Again, there are many behind the scenes matters being worked on and developing. Please communicate with John. He should be able to give you the heads-up on what direction to take. There is a method to all of this maddnes.

I'm with Cowboy and Brewster. Lets keep things going the way they are. I spent yesterday with Bud. Let me tell you, he is really looking forward to feeling the wind in his face, and seeing his camp again. I agree that may be the best medication for Bud right now. Diamondback has Buds boat, Mike Thurman has the motor. everything is looking good. As far as the motor I think we should tune it up and paint it. Bud told me yesterday he would like it Lycoming Grey. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Cowboy said that it was running good. Mike will tell us what is needed and we will go from there

my vote is to restore allways has been, cowboy your gonna do it with or without us i can tell ,i for one is with ya , brewster nerver heard a truer statment you must be a genius lets getter done.

howdy boyz
i have been watching this site for some time with out voicing a opinion. actualy this is my fist post. watching what has been going on has taught me a lot and given me a few good laffs.
i sent a money to help mr margus with the undrstanding that my money was going to help him with is bills and help pay for his pills.
i did not donate money to fix up his boat. from all that i read on hear it was understood that the effort was to help a fellow airboater who is older and could not make ends meet.
in my opinion keeping a roof over his head food on the table and medication in his pill box is more important than repairing his boat. anything other than that is fluff and i personally do no beleive that the man and his wife need fluff at this time in there life.
i hope that what i read and understand is not correct.

I'm pretty much the new guy on the block here been on the site for a year now, my feeling is this if we told Bud we were going to restore his boat then that's what we need to do.Cowboy is right Bud did not come to anyone for help and even though i never met him I can tell you this he never would. I understand that he has medical bills, his home needs repairs which we are helping him with and will continue to do so, if we need to set up a separate fund to get his boat done then lets get to it, there should be no questions asked, a day on his boat in the Glades is the best medication money can buy we all know that, so if you guys need me to do anything I'll do what ever I can , I'm in

I vote to just do enough to restore Bud's boat. I guess that would be number two and number three. It sound like what you are doing is the right thing. Not turning it into a Bling Machine but restoring it back to the boat he had. If it needs more work for a museum we can do that before it goes there. Right now he just needs a nice running safe boat to get him to the frogs. Mike Thurman will make it look good and run good. I wish I could help with some of the work, but I'm a little far north. Sounds like you all are doing good though. I'll at least send Olf some more bucks to keep you going and to allow COLD to say what he thinks.

I believe every thing is going to be taken care of for Bud with both efforts. Lets don't let this cause a big problem between everyone. This handful of guys working on Bud's boat are going to get it fixed because they want to and the money will come from "boat donations" and horse trading not the general fund. Take a breath everybody.

This effort is gonna make Bud happy.
He is waiting anxiously for his boat to return.

This is gonna be good medicine for him.
The best medicine anyone could prescribe.... Perhaps if it was up to us to decide whats best for him, and take all the money, and energy that will be put into his boat and give it to him instead... well I reckon I can guess what Bud would want.

He wants his boat more than anything else right now.
He wants to ride.

Any money, that anyone sends to the Robert Marquis Fund will be given directly to Bud.

Repeat:
Any and ALL monies sent to the Robert Marquis Fund will be given directly to Bud!
No ands, ifs or butts......
If you have sent money to the Robert Marquis Fund.... that money will go to Bud, not to fixing his boat.

If you plan to donate money for Bud, then your Money WILL GO TO BUD, not to the boat fixing endeavors.

Please let me know if anyone else does not understand this.

Now, while we have all been arguing this out, Mike Thurman was contacted today by a Gentleman from the Great State of Louisiana. He has expressed his desire to send a substaintial donation to cover the costs of fixing up Buds engine. I know we will cover this need now. No problems.

Thank You kind Sir!
Thank you.
