Who makes a caddy gearbox?

Is it caddy specific or does it cross-over from another motor.

Sorry for all the question but, still learning about the caddy motors.

I have a rotator on my Caddy and the stinger is a better unit hands down. They bolt up better for a cadillac.

RICHARD ! STINGERS THEY FLOAT ENOUGH NOT TO WORRY ! ROTATORS JUST A SMALLER SHIM FOR THE CADILLAC FLYWHEEL ! OR FOR ME ANYWAY ! :D

Bottom line the Rotater direction are worthless and the shim kit they give you is a joke. This is not horse shoes we are talking about so if you don't have it set up right you will tear up your thrust bearing. The Stinger does not have these problems.

The Rotator is an excellent box---this is my second one behind a bunch of Cadillac horsepower. As the only roller cammed, aluminum headed Cadillac powered airboat, I can vouch for the strength of them. They are bulletproof, and if you need "directions" to mount a gearbox, then you need to hire someone else to do it. Charles

I can not comment on stinger gearbox's, I've never owned one. I am sure they are great grearbox's. But I have run a 2.12:1, 2.37:1, and a 2.68:1 Rotator gearbox behind four different Caddy motors, and like Charles said "They are bulletproof." I have never had a problem with one.

I never said the Rotator was not a strong box I said it was not as well thought out as the Stinger. Unlike 90% of boat owners I will point out flaws in a system even if I own it period. Will I ever buy another Rotator " NO". As far as reading directions goes I think only a fool would skip reading directions. If pointing out performance parts on my motor makes me a more informed source for you to make your decision then I have chrome Valve cover breathers. Did I win? :D

Oh wait I have a chrome dip stick and a Cadillac Performance sticker on my oil Pan. That settles it I am an expert on any and all things airboat. :D

ONE EYE ! YES THEY BOLTS UP TO ANY GM SMALL OR BIG BLOCKS ! I THINK THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE SOFT DRIVE PATTERN ! AND TO MAKE SURE YOU DONT FORCE YOUR SPACERS IN ! 98 PERCENT OF THE TIME THEY WORK ! BUTT I AM 2 PERCENT ! JUST MY BASTARD FLY WHEEL ! JUST DONT FORCE YOUR FLY WHEEL FORWARD ! JUST GO THINNER SPACERS KEEP THE CRANK HAPPY NO BIG DEAL ! !(CADILLAC OWNERS ! JUST GOT TO LOVE EM ) :argue: :pottytrain2:

oh yeah, I have a K&N filter and it said on the box that it would give me 68 more horespower. That combined with my lucky nutra rat tail means that I am the expert at rotater to Caddy applications.

Contest? i see it as shared information. Take it or leave it but personal attacks certainly didn't answer the original poster's question.

I am looking at a rotator and it's a weird set up. It has no provisions for thrust play at all. It seems the flex of the thin adapter plate is all it "gives". It has spacers to go between it and the flexplate to allow it to flex, but seems to me there should be some provision to allow float. You only have about .007" for thrust play so it'd have to be dead on to live. Anyone have any suggestions as to where play will come from?
