Cadi engine, whats needed from car to boat?

Cajun

First, whats the main years of cadis are the best engines found in? And whats the ball park figure to put from car to hull? I might be wanting to take on a project and never have owned a boat powered by auto engine. Thanx, Cajun

hey cajun, 1968-1976 will give you a 472 or a 500 there is little diffrence between these two motors.77-79 will give you a 425 with alittle less power. a 500 caddy is usally the easy junk yard pick up and reasonably priced.or on this site i'm pretty sure some one may have one to sell,or airboatrader online has them run through frequently.putting one in a boat
is not that expensive but be shure that the boat can handle the wieght of the caddy at almost 600lbs.

Yea, I don't know much about these torque Vs. H.P. things when it comes to motors out of vehicles. If it wern't for the high R.P.M.s I would think a Toyota truck motor would be a great small boat motor, they are almost bullet proof. But then again, what I said earlier about knowing nothing about that stuff. Mainly just curious about the best inexpensive conversion for a project. Thanx, Later, Cajun

you need to get a motor from buddy branch with cadillac performance in tampa. You won't find a stronger motor than what he builds. He has one already built up as we speak. the cadi motor will run about 330 HP at 300 rpm. gets better more rpms, but can't take prop faster than that
